“Ecosystems València” is an illustrated children’s book with all the magic of a “Wimmelbook” and it invites us to look beyond the walls of the city and explore the surrounding nature.
¿But what does a “Wimmelbook” mean?
A Wimmelbook is a type of illustration book of German origin with a great tradition in this country but still very little known in Spain. It is a children’s book of plasticised cardboard (600gr) showing different parts of the city while accompanying some characters that appear on each page. There are no predetermined narratives or stories, which enables an open, original and multilingual reading while the kids are having fun to explore and recognise the different parts of their city.
Here are our protagonists! They all live in València and although they don't know each other yet, they are part of the city and the city landscapes – each one in their own specific way. What are you doing today? Will they meet anyone new today? Accompany them on their walks as they discover the secrets and treasures of their surroundings.
And what makes our “Wimmelbook” different and special?
As soon as we started to work on the contents of the book we realised that for us València was much more than emblematic buildings and squares. In fact, our favourite places are often located behind the city walls in the surrounding nature. That is why we decided to broaden our perspective and represent not only the city as such (Old Town) but also the different surrounding ecosystems which in some way nourish the city itself: the vegetable garden (la huerta), the port area (La Marina), the natural park of the Albufera or the old river bed, now transformed into a park that crosses the entire city.
A book for children and adults alike
We are carrying out an entire participatory research process. This means we are getting in touch with key actors in each place to identify elements that have to do with the essence of each of the places selected (flora and fauna, historical, ecological, social or cultural elements) that inn our opinion can further enrich the different readings of the book, making it not only a book for children but also an interesting work for both educational and for tourism purposes.
Our main objective is to depict situations or elements through drawings that capture our attention and raise awareness of cultural, ecological, historical or environmental aspects, depending on how the book is used and read.

About the rewards
We have created many special rewards so that every donor gets the one he or she likes the most. As you already know, some of them are objects or experiences that you can only get during the campaign so if you like the project, don't hesitate to support us.

Who we are
We are Doro and Anneta and we have known each other for more than 13 years, but it was not until half a year ago that our paths crossed again to embark on some creative adventures together that we are very enthusiastic about. This project was born out of a dream that Doro had some months ago and which relates to her childhood and the wish as a mother of four girls to have a Wimmelbook of her current hometown of Valencia to be able to share special moments with her daughters and friends.

Foreseen production schedule
The book is already being produced at the moment and our plan is to finalise it by the end of November. We are planning to start the printing in early December so that the rewards and the book will arrive in time for Christmas.
To what we will dedicate your contributions to
The money will be used to pay for expenses arising from the production and printing of the book. In addition, we will pay for the production of the rewards and any taxes deriving from the process.
62 % – Derivative expenses design, production and printing of the book.
18 % – Production of rewards and shipments.
20 % – Tax derivative services (VAT, verkami, platform payment)
