To boldly go...
WHAT'S DUNGEONSPACE?
[Previous note: this project is officialy licensed by Hirst Arts Fantasy Architecture Inc.]
DungeonSpace is a sci-fi/cyberpunk extension of an existing project called DungeonSpain. As you can see in the previous link, it is an online store where I offer fantasy scenery (mostly dungeons) prepared to be displayed on the table with all kinds of RPGs, strategy, wargames or boardgames whose background includes classic high middle age fantasy elements. Some of these games are Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Aventuras en la Marca del Este, Heroquest, Descent o Warhammer Fantasy. The list has no end. Here you are some DungeonSpain vids
Over the last months, I've got persistent encouraging comments and suggestions to produce another line of pieces for scenarios based in space sci-fi/cyberpunk background. The creation of this new line is precisely what can become real here at Verkami, with your help, because it is a hard word but also an economic tour-de-force. As a lover and fan of the genre since I can remember, I haven't been able to fight for a long time against my need of seeing this space scenery materialized. Now, this crowdfunding platform and project can turn everything on. As The Boss says: 'you can't start a fire without a spark'.
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE REWARDS
I've tried to set a bunch of worthy rewards to compensate your supporting efforts. As this project is intending to produce scenery pieces, it is obvious that the rewards will be... scenery pieces! ;oD
Within the endless range of pieces that can be created with the Hirst Arts molds I've chosen three starting predefined rooms which, for background immersion purposes, I've settled fictitiously in a spaceship called The Dungeoneer. You can imagine her like the ships in the Red Dwarf TV series, the Prometheus, the Nostromo, the space complex in Silent Running, a Star Wars imperial cruiser, the Battlestar Galactica o any of the different Enterprise ships in Star Trek.
The three starting rooms I designed have some common features:
- They have a preset design I call "Type 1" (maybe there will be other different types in the future).
- They include two kind of pieces: straight walls and curved corners. You can create uncountable rooms changing the position I suggest you as type 1 room and mixing different rooms into bigger ones.
- They include at least a door frame (without door).
- They all are "open the box and play on the fly"
- They're pre-painted
- The area they cover is a 6x6 square. Every square is 2,5 cm side.
Said that, let's see the rooms:
The basic room: It is the standard. You can turn it into almost everything with the proper furniture and decoration pieces.
The med lab: a room for science experiments and the crew's health care. ¿Do you remember that scene with the alien thing coming out of the chest? That was NOT a medlab, but a dining room, but with the proper furniture and atrezzo that room can be very similar to DungeonSpace Med Lab. The sexiest and most scaring things can happen in a medlab.
The cargo bay: this is the place where you get and deliver supplies, goods and stuff in general for the ship manteinance and such things.
THE -YUMMY- BONUSES
The stretch goals are the way you make me happy but you even do one another. Achieving them means the project is becoming real and, moreover, the same rewards are richer and more interesting.
These are the first ones:
If we reach 3.500€: I'll send every funder as much doors as necessary to match the rooms ordered. I.e. If you chose the 85€ reward (3 rooms) you'll get 3 doors.
If we reach 4.000€: I'll send every funder a pack of two atrezzo pieces (cargo crates, as in the picture above) for every room ordered. I.e. If you chose the 55€ reward (2 rooms) you'll get 4 crates.
If we reach 4.500€: I'll send every funder a pack of two atrezzo pieces (pressured gas cylinders) for every room ordered.
If we reach 6.500€: I'll send every funder a SPECIAL PIECE. And what the hell is that thing, the "special piece"? Let's say this is the most spectacular part of the project. if you want to know more about it keep reading further or go directly to the "But wait! There's more!" section.
WHAT ADVANTAGES WILL YOU HAVE AS A FUNDER?
The advantages are mainly three:
First of all, you'll get your pieces at a considerable lower cost than they will have in the future, whet they're on sale officialy. However, remember that you must add the 30€ or 55€ shipping cost option if your live outside Spain.
Secondly, you'll get your pieces much faster and before any ordinary customer, who will have to wait surely up to Q3 2013 (at least). All my starting production go for you, the funders.
Finally, as you can see, for the 65€ and bigger rewards, Bruno Nievas, the author of the incredible and futurist novel Realidad Aumentada, will sign and dedicate one of his books, that you'll get at home along the other items in your reward.
I never forget YOU are the true engine and gears of this project and without your support the magic won't happen. I'm focused on treating you as well as I'm able, as I usually do with every DungeonSpain customer since it all started.
...where no man has gone before
BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
There's a secondary objective, more ambitious and spectacular (in creative terms) , but it will only be possible if we reach the 6.500€ stretch goal.
In case we get these numbers, a whole new and unknown world would open to our eyes. Come to that point I would be able to create special pieces that literally don't exist. HOW?
The way to do it would be purchasing a 3D printer, exactly THIS ONE.
The one and only mission for this new technology would be the production of pieces which would contain small tubes and spaces to include wires, micro-switches and coin cell holders necessary to enable interior led lights and such things. This way it'll be easy to produce unique pieces such as walls with torches, fireplaces or portable points of focused light for DungeonSpain/DungeonSpace, so you could put it in your corridors and rooms . Real light in your dioramas and scenarios! Imagine those dark and opressive corridors with isolated points of vague light strategically located and your PC waiting for a genestealer to show up anywhere... Thrilling!
In the following pictures you can see the light effects these new pieces would add to some scenarios. You don't see the pieces because the don't exist yet, but in the next 40 days you, the funders and supporters, can make it happen.
The variability of models you can create in a 3D printer draws a bright future full of surprises I can't even imagine.
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" (Arthur C. Clarke)
After that, I hope you understand that this project at Verkami is not a simple pre-order. With your money you're supporting a pure creative activity from the very beggining.
HOW WILL I SPEND THE FUNDS
The money will go to conver the costs of production stuff firstly. Then I'll have to pack the pieces safely and ship them to you.
The manufacturing products:
Hirst Arts original molds for the master pieces.
Silicone for the replicantion molds .
Resins, calcite charges and resin dyes.
Painting and finishing stuff.
Packing and shipping:
Boxes in different sizes
Full color printed stickers and labels.
Other inner printed information.
Inner fastening and filling materials (foam, bubble wrap, etc.)
Wrapping paper.
An finally, other management costs. For instance the % for Verkami and the % for bank transactions.
SOMETHING ELSE ABOUT DUNGEONSPAIN
DungeonSpain is the only store in Spain licensed to product stuff by Hirst Arts Fantasy Architecture Inc., a company in the U.S. that makes the basic bit molds I use to design my pieces. DungeonSpain sells at a very reasonable prices and the only secret is I undertake it as an art project, not an industrial business. That means I am the only one who does everything, from production to distribution. So my deal with the customer is "I sell cheap and you are content with my waiting list, even if you have to wait one or two months for your order to ship".
I just want encourage you to come onboard and help this dream come true. We can cross this still unexplored final frontier in our RPG universe.
THANKS A BILLION TO ALL OF YOU.
Note: sorry for any misspelling or grammar errors.

Yo tampoco recibi nada - alguien recibio algo?
adrasto

http://www.dungeonspain.com/DS/?p=693
Y esto es del 20 de agosto.
https://www.facebook.com/DungeonSpain/posts/612751475422921

Por cierto, no conocía Battle for Alabaster.
