WHAT IS TRUSTTO AND WHAT IS OUR OBJECTIVE?
Hello! We are Trustto V, and we aim to design a storage, refrigeration, and transportation device that maintains the temperature and humidity conditions required for medications and rapid tests.
Our project was born in response to the humanitarian crisis affecting countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Panama, India, and South Sudan.
Nowadays, thousands of essential medical products must be discarded due to extreme climatic conditions and lack of resources, which lead to the deterioration of their properties and prevent their proper use.
This collaboration arises from the shared objectives and philosophy with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
MSF is a medical-humanitarian organization (NGO) whose mission is to assist people threatened by armed conflicts, violence, epidemics or neglected diseases, natural disasters, and lack of access to medical care.
The goal of the partnership between our engineering team and Médecins Sans Frontières is to develop a modular storage device that keeps essential medical products within a temperature range of 15°C to 25°C, preventing their deterioration.
Our goal is to create a documentary that showcases the entire process of developing the medical device from scratch.
In this documentary, we will not only present the design and development process but also highlight the collaborative work between the Trustto team and MSF in creating the different components of the device.
Through this short film, contributors will be able to experience firsthand the growth of the project and feel that they are truly part of the journey and the experiences shared along the way.
VERKAMI FUNDING GOAL
Our initial goal is to reach at least €1,500 to create a very early-stage functional prototype, which will not yet meet the functional requirements needed for real-world use.
In the second phase, we aim to raise €2,500 to use real and functional materials. However, it won’t be until we reach €3,500 that we can apply the necessary industrial processes and achieve high-quality finishes.
Our final objective is to reach €5,500 to develop a fully functional device, using the best industrial processes and finishes, and ensuring that it is verified by industry professionals.
If we exceed our funding goal, all additional funds will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
WHO ARE WE?
We are the fifth generation of Trustto! This year, our team consists of three girls and one boy in their final year of Industrial Design Engineering (GEDI) at Elisava School of Design and Engineering in Barcelona. We share a strong passion for developing innovative solutions in the field.
Trustto V is a multidisciplinary team with expertise in simulation and product development, innovative materials, and data management.
By combining our diverse knowledge, we aim to create an innovative and functional solution that effectively addresses the challenges we are facing.
PRODUCT
At Trustto V x Médecins Sans Frontières, we are developing an innovative storage and temperature control system designed to operate efficiently in resource-limited environments. Our system integrates renewable energy sources and advanced thermal insulation materials, ensuring the preservation of sensitive pharmaceutical products within a temperature range of 15°C to 25°C.
The product consists of 4 essential components that work together to ensure optimal performance.
The cooling system is the core of the device, designed to maintain a stable temperature for as long as possible, optimizing energy consumption.
The outer casing encloses and protects the cooling module, ensuring efficient thermal insulation, impact resistance, and a design adapted for easy transportation.
The interior architecture is designed to store up to 30 liters of medical products, maximizing thermal efficiency through the integration of phase change materials (PCM), which extend cooling duration and reduce energy demand.
Finally, the connection system is responsible for monitoring and precise temperature control, providing real-time data and alerts in case of fluctuations to ensure the safety and stability of stored medications.
Through this project, we aim to provide a real solution for preserving medicines in critical environments, ensuring their stability and availability for those who need them most.
ABOUT THE REWARDS
We sincerely appreciate each and every contribution to our project, which is why we have designed a series of gifts as rewards for the support we receive.
As mentioned earlier, this project is focused on social impact and operates on a non-profit basis. For this reason, we have decided to create a documentary that compiles all the phases of the project.
This documentary has been entirely filmed and edited by our team, allowing contributors to witness the full process of creating our storage and refrigeration device from start to finish.
The bracelets and physical rewards will be delivered on the day of the documentary premiere, which will be notified to the backers via email.
HOW WILL WE USE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS?
All funds received through the Verkami platform will be entirely used to purchasing the necessary materials for the manufacturing of the device.
By contributing, you are directly helping to develop new technical equipment for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), which in turn ensures access to high-quality essential medical products for those who need them most.
Additionally, if we exceed our funding goal, all remaining funds will be fully donated to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
PROJECT RISKS AND CHALLENGES
One of our biggest challenges is designing a useful and functional device for the MSF users who will rely on it.
It is crucial that our product prevents the disposal of medications due to exposure to high temperatures and humidity, as each discarded medication directly impacts MSF patients.
To ensure an effective solution, we maintain constant communication with MSF workers, always prioritizing their needs throughout the design process.
Additionally, we have meticulously planned every step of the project’s development to anticipate potential challenges. This approach guarantees that the prototype manufacturing process is carried out successfully and that we achieve our set goal.
Regarding rewards, we have also established a clear timeline to avoid delays in delivery. We will keep all backers updated on the different phases of the project so they can follow its progress.
Would you like to join us and support this mission?
