Farem Adeu

Farem Adeu is a short film created by five friends in the last year of our degree. It's so exciting to be able to introduce our project and make you part of this process that began in the summer of 2022.

In our Final Degree Project we want to portray the bond between a mother and a daughter, their unconditional appreciation but also their lack of communication and adaptation to change.

Iris is a 22 year old girl that could be any of us, because she is at a point in her life that scares and excites her at the same time. Through her, we navigate the situations that we ourselves also face at this moment. From the experiences that the main character goes through, such as an Erasmus that the five of us also share, to the close relationship she has with her family.

This project is a compilation of everything we have explained to each other as friends, the things we share among us, concerns and thoughts that we now want to present with this story.

Iris (22) has just returned home after spending the last year of her university studies in Ghent, Belgium. She is reunited with her mother, Isabel (50), and her younger brother, Oriol (18), in Barcelona, where they live in the back room of their family business, the Fortuny lamp store. This return home is conditioned by an event that will mean an important change in their lives: Iris has received a job offer in Ghent. Accepting it will mean leaving Barcelona again, this time indefinitely.

Before embarking on this new stage, Iris will have to face her mother, a woman who, despite being strong and hard-working, has a great emotional dependence on her children, especially Iris. This situation will highlight the family roles and the lack of communication between them, a basic problem that has defined their entire relationship.

We are three Martas, one Emma and one Abril. Five student friends finishing their degree in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Now, after having shared experiences working and growing together for almost five years, we have created our own project from scratch, with a lot of enthusiasm and desire.

Marta Botet Borràs (co-director and co-director of photography)

Creator of the YouTube channel and blog "Recomenacions de Llibres" (2011-2020). Literary video-critic in the section "La Llança" of Elnacional.cat (June 2017 - January 2018). Weekly collaboration in "El Suplement amb Ricard Ustrell" from Catalunya Ràdio (September 2017 - July 2018). Presenter of Betevé's "Terrícoles" (January 2019 - June 2019). Content creation in the catalan content disclosure platform Canal Malaia (2020 - 2021). Department of Communication and Social Networks and reinforcement in the production department at the IDEAL Digital Arts Center (February 2021 - March 2021). Script of the shortfilm "Crisàlides" TFG ESCAC (2021). 1AC of the shortfilm "Vinguin les Feres", Atiende Films (2022). Art co-director of the serial pilot "Fuera de campo", TFG of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2022). Co-director of the communication department of the U22 Festival, 4th edition (2022). Photo director of the music video "I Feel Kinda Dumb" (2023). Currently, she is pursuing university internships in Belledenuit as a production assistant and part of the creative team.

Abril Cassadó Prats (screenwriter and co-producer)

Reactor of TV3 TV shows "Tabús", El Terrat (2019) and "Atrapa'm si pots", Mediapro (2020). Content creation in the catalan content disclosure platform Canal Malaia (2020 - 2021). Support for the production of the 23rd edition of the Mecal Pro Short Film Festival (2021) and the feature film "La nit no fa vigilia", Ringo Media (2022). Second assistant director of the music video "I Feel Kinda Dumb" (2023). Currently, she is pursuing university internships in the writing teams and content department of El Terrat from the Mediapro group.

Marta Foncillas Osorio (co-director and co-producer)

University internship in the communication department of Custommedia (April 2021 - July 2021). Content creation in the catalan content disclosure platform Canal Malaia (2020 - 2021). Video editor of interviews for the journalistic program Nuclium (2021 - 2022). Support in the production of the feature film "La nit no fa vigilia", Ringo Media (2022). Assistant art director in the pilot chapter of the series "Fuera de campo", TFG Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2022). Electric in the short film "Vinguin les feres", Atiende Films (2022). Co-director of the communication department of the 4th edition of the young film Festival u22 (2022). She currently co-directs network communication campaigns for Esquirol Actors and the Actors Barcelona service and she is the audiovisual manager of the Economèdia project.

Emma Soler Oliveras (Co-director and director of actresses)

Content creation in the catalan content disclosure platform Canal Malaia (2020 - 2021). Casting assistant for the short film "De plata lloro", TFG ESCAC (2021). Art co-director of the serial pilot "Fuera de campo", TFG of Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2022). Support in the production of the feature film "La nit no fa vigilia", Ringo Media (2022). Co-direction of the communication department of the 4th edition of the young film Festival u22 (2022). She currently co-directs the networking campaigns for Esquirol Actors and the Actors Barcelona service and is pursuing extracurricular internship at Nanouk Films as a production assistant.

Marta Segarra Sánchez (photo co-director)

Photographer, content creator and social media management at BCN OPEN 2019 (Bcn Debating Society). Department of Communication and Marketing at the advertising company Aftershare S.L. (2020). Photographer fixes the fictional short film "Reminiscencia", UPC (2021) and Short film art director "3er 2a", UPF (2021). Department of Communication, Social Networks and Content Creation at KOSS BCN (2021). Department of communication at the Cercle Technological Foundation in Barcelona (2021-2022).

Mikel Gurrea. Director and screenwriter of "Suro" (2022), feature film with which he won the Gaudí award for best new director.

Carles Marqués-Marcet. Director, screenwriter and editor. With his first feature film "10.000km" (2014) he wins the Goya for best new director. He has also directed "Els dies que vindran"(2019), with which he won the Gaudí for best film.

Neus Ballús. Director, screenwriter, editor and audiovisual producer. He wins four Gaudí awards with his first feature film "La Plaga" (2013), for best film, direction, screenplay and editing. She has also directed "El viatge de la Marta" (2019) and "Sis dies corrents"(2021). With this last feature film she also wins three Gaudí awards for best film, direction and editing.

Nuria Aidelman. Programmer of Xcèntric since 2003 and Gandules since 2005, writer of publications and books on photography, and film director.

Lara Sendim. Screenwriter of films such as "Los renglones torglos de dios" (2022), "Durante la tormenta" (2018) and "El cuerpo" (2012).

Xavier Cassadó. Co-founder of the production company El Terrat and director of Fiction and Entertainment projects.

Aitor Martos. Producer of films such as "Entre dos aguas" (2018) and "La próxima piel" (2016), by Isaki Lacuesta.

Artur Tort. Director of photography and editor of the film "Pacifiction" (2022), with which he wins a Gaudí award for photography.

With Verkami and your help we can finance Farem Adeu and in return, we offer what are called rewards. There are 10 levels of contribution, where you will find rewards such as a tote bag, the poster of the short film, the making-of, a scented candle or the soundtrack of the short film.

Thanks to all the patrons, we will be able to cover the basic and necessary expenses of the project, and Farem Adeu will be a reality. Here you see a scheme of how we will distribute the money:
