I have the great fortune of working with bees.
I want to create a new exclusive apiary for the sponsorship of swarms of bees and educational visits, benefiting biodiversity and the regeneration of the territory of the Cingles de Bertí, in Moianès.
With your contribution you help me with the acquisition of 20 new swarms and the beekeeping suits, to be able to visit the bees safely.
Be one of the first people to sponsor a swarm, you will be able to name it and experience the beekeeper's job the day of the visit, while we taste honey and talk about bees. You can also take home honey from your bees, get to know the indigenous beekeeping flora and enjoy discounts on the web.
MISSION
The aim of the project is to protect bees and biodiversity through the sponsorship of bee swarms, beekeeping outreach and environmental education; guarantee animal welfare by beekeeping that is natural and respectful of bees and the environment; and help in the regeneration of the territory's biodiversity.
WHERE?
In a farmhouse that I am rehabilitating, in the town of Bertí, Sant Quirze Safaja (Moianès). In a context of rural repopulation and self-management, this project is unique in the Cingles de Bertí area. The bees collect pollen and nectar from rosemary, thyme, bramble, heather, oak, ivy, arbutus and the rest of the wild vegetation of the central continental Mediterranean area.
HOW DO I TREAT THE BEES? NATURAL REGENERATIVE BEEKEEPING?
My handling and techniques are completely respectful of bees and the environment:
I know and respect the behavior and biology of the swarm. I constantly update myself in a self-taught way and with observation-essay.
I don't attack our bees with chemical products or artificial foods, and I look for apiaries far from conventional agriculture and phytosanitary.
I do not engage in transhumance, I look for fixed locations with the maximum number of annual blooms. I do fixed beekeeping.
My interventions are based on observation and respect.
Balance in the harvest of honey and other products. I leave the reverbs necessary for their survival.
I do not clip the wings of the mother (queen), nor paint or remove her to make a new mother.
I take advantage of the natural course of the swarm to expand our apiary. I adapt to what nature offers me.
I understand bees within the context of the ecosystem and the cosmos.
I use types of hives that allow peace inside the breeding nest where the mother is, without interventions, only in case of emergencies.
I use the most organic material possible and manage it myself, such as wax or beehive repairs.
I collaborate with the local and social economy, through a short circuit of sales in agricultural shops, consumer groups, cooperatives, fairs and markets.
I dedicate energy to environmental awareness and education, through workshops and talks, where I transmit my knowledge about bees and other pollinators.
I rescue wild swarms, located in cities and buildings, to recover the native honey bee (the black bee, Apis mellifera iberiensis).

WHO AM I?
My name is Aida Palau Roca and I was born in Pla d'Urgell, in the west of Catalonia. I've been fascinated by nature since I was little and I consider myself a very dynamic person. Being there fills me up with life and when I'm there I don't need anything else. I consider myself a bit wild and this frenetic pace of today's society doesn't resonate with me.
I discovered bees through causality. The possibility of getting to know their world by taking a course in organic beekeeping came to me and I loved it. When I picked up that first frame full of bees and could feel them, there was no way back. For me, being able to care for the well-being of bees has a meaning beyond considering it a beautiful job Bees are responsible for carrying out the task of pollination and the regeneration of biodiversity, therefore, they give us food and life. They are very important for our survival and I am in charge of transmitting people through this project. I observe and study them constantly to try to know and understand them.
The world of bees is fascinating. A few years ago I was encouraged to manage five swarms of my own and today more than half of my income comes from this millennial job. A hard and sacrificial job that at the same time fills me with satisfaction and happiness because it allows me to be where I like the most, in nature.
I would like to continue with this beautiful and necessary project, this is the reason that has made me decide to start a crowdfunding to obtain funding with the help of people who really believe in it and want to contribute to guarantee its continuity.
