Being alone is normal, it happens usually to us. But feeling lonely can turn our reality very dark if it merges with negativity and poor self-esteem. Anhedonia is a vast and barren moor flooded with depression and lack of pleasure in every task realised daily.
Represented by anonym characters, it shows the deliria’s advance that, through emotional and mental bursts, gets to the point of mental disorders, dependence, paranoia and the existential question. A path into the most substantial part of the being’s thinking that will try to analyse the behaviourism and reaction of our character in light of the outsider traumatic and shocking events, which have an impact on his self-esteem and his future.
Anhedonia is born as a short film based on real events that show to the world the unnoticed and unknown face of depression, which is able to remain hidden under simple gestures, words and thoughts. The intention of this short is to make people with depression in any way possible aware of mental health and to offer them support and respect.
These real events are inspired on the mental, social and emotional experiences that a member of the team has suffered in the process of depression course (affliction, assimilation and recovery). With this project we try to help somebody else bound to get to that point.
We want to carry out this project with respect and caring. Also, we want to submerge watchers in the scene. To that end, we need a hydrophone to shoot an underwater scene.
To the scene mentioned above, we need to protect our recording equipment from accidents in the water, so it’s necessary water-resistant covers for our cameras.
To take the best levelled shots and to have a better camera control, we need a small feather crane.
In addition, we need a surround sound to get the effect of total immersion; to achieve this, we need a 5.1 sound card. A pleasure for our ears.
As good artists, we make a little of everything: we are designing two paints that are relevant in the story. Later, we are going to auction them for the benefit of a NGO related with mental health. We just need the equipment to make it possible.
Furthermore, we need to cover the basic costs for transport, illumination, make-up and characterisation (which corresponds to a small part of the required budget).

In the short film website you'll find more information about our team and the project.
Anhedonia can be understood as the journey, mental and physical, that a young person experiences from the darkness of his thought towards the light of comprehension, understanding and overcoming. The scenarios are of superlative importance: they show the mental and psychic state of the protagonist, thus contributing to generate an atmosphere with tonalities between science fiction, psychological terror, naturalistic or minimalist very influential and essential to locate the story.
After a long search process, these are 3 of the 5 places we have selected as suitable for filming:
1.- Room Limbo
The madness itself dwells in this room. Our main character appears for the first time in this inhospitable and cold place. Subsequently, continuous trips to this site are made.
An almost empty place, seemingly motionless in time, immutable, bewildering. Able to approach the loneliness and isolation that can come to experience in this kind of situations.
This location is going to be a mystery until the premiere. You can let us know what the limbo room of your heads is like through our social networks.
2.- Lookout
A conversation that will mark the tone of the footage takes place here, in the most suitable point of Malaga. Captivating and natural for its views of the city at a point away from the bustle and laden with calm, tranquility and nature.
Located in one of the highest points of the city, the Gibralfaro lookout provides us with the depth we want to transmit with the scene. Abstraction, the estrangement of the world, observation or thought are actions that we can sketch in this wonderful and enchanting place.
3.- Father's Hall
The warm and endearing presence of the family is exhibited in this location. A place surrounded by nature and vegetation that gives it a privileged harmony and beauty.
The memories and the tranquility of the home bring to the spectator sensations of calm and temperance mixed with bitter airs within this cozy scene.
The other remaining locations are secret for the moment. Keep an eye on news, we may disclose some other in upcoming campaign updates, the project website or our social networks.
