The Secret of Mother Nature in the Land of the Condor

A NOTE ABOUT THE AUTHOR

This project, "The Secret of Mother Nature in the Land of the Condor”, is born from the love of storytelling and travelling. A recent trip to Perù enchanted the author, Francesca Del Santo, so completely as to have found the inspiration for her second fairy tale. Last year she published her first book, “Missione a Venezia per Anita e Carlotta” (“Mission in Venice for Anita and Charlotte, currently available only in Italian) with a Genoese publishing house.

While working on "The Secret of Mother Nature in the Land of the Condor”, she considered how great it would be to dedicate the book to the poor children of the Nassae school in Lima, the capital city of the wonderful country which inspired her last story.

There’s nothing more gratifying than being part of a little Big Dream!

THE BOOK

A fantasy tale, completely hand-illustrated and painted in watercolors.

BOOK CHARACTERISTICS

The book is complete with ISBN code, with closed dimensions of 21x21 (cm), on glossy coated paper, cardboard cover disk and cotton thread stitched binding.

Available in 3 languages (Italian, Spanish and English).

The book is double-paged and entirely illustrated in watercolors: what is technically called a PICTURE BOOK. 

The story has been conceived for an age range starting with 7- to 8-year-olds throughout adulthood, for those who can appreciate this type of story. Even adults that are willing to lose themselves in a fairy tale can come out of it having learned something new. 

The 29 illustrated plates are the result of 8 months of work.

If we obtain the necessary funds, by the end of November the book will go into print and will be in your homes before CHRISTMAS!!!

HOW THE PROJECT BEGAN AND WHERE YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL BE DEVOLVED

Francesca loves travelling around the world to generate, through her fairy tales, curiosity for diversity in all of its forms as well as love and respect for the multitudes of different cultures.

THE PERUVIAN EXPERIENCE

In Perù, Francesca had the opportunity to discover a new world, made of music and colors, smells and tastes, but also poverty and degradation. Her younger sister, overseas for a volunteer experience, lived as a guest for 6 months in a Peruvian family in Lima, in a small house in the suburbs.

There, together with Lucy and Luis Palomino Barrientos inside their home, her days were filled with schooling 30 poor children who didn’t have the possibility to attend public school.

Luis and Lucy and Luis  (husband and wife) have dedicated their lives for more than 20 years to promoting schooling even for those less fortunate, in order to guarantee them a more decent future. They, too, were once children workers.

THE BEGINNING OF A GREAT DREAM

Upon her return to Italy, a solidarity process was born, animated by Francesca’s family, involving numerous Italian families in order to finance the construction of the new school, Nassae. This school, located on the outskirts of the Peruvian capital, in the degraded district of San Juan de Lurigancho, in the Jicamarca quarter..

A real brick school with a capacity of 90 children (60 more than before!)

Three years later since the beginning of the project the numerous italian families hardly guarantee teaching materials and daily meals for the children because of the growth of the school and of the current number of the children
… but Nassae guarantees (and paid) medical check-ups and personal cleanliness and hygiene thanks to running water.

The school is an example of a life of dignity and a positive stimulus for the childrens’ families, involved by the teachers in following their own children throughout the learning process.

These people’s very existence has changed and has been fortified by hope,

** The ONG Nassae** manages the didactical/educative project of the namesake school, taking care of the 90 children to whom education was negated.

**All of us, embroilled in this small/big peruvian dream, want just it doesn't end, and that it could develop, but for Nassae today the antecedenty is to continue to exist.

For every sold copy of the book, the author commits herself to devolve 20% of the book’s cover price to the Nassae school.
