We want to fund the third stage of the artistic-scientific project Life, Origin and Multiverse that will take place in the month of September in Iceland, searching for ice and fire.
I want to represent artistically through photography, reflections on the latest scientific theories about the origin of life, -primal development, adaptation to extreme environments, evolutionary development and biodiversity- and its possible appearance in different universes at the same time -known by the scientific community as "multiverse”.
For this, I use mirrors as a metaphor, as a way to bring other universes to ours. The final image is a fragment of landscape reflected or merged into another backdrop, visual paradoxes within reality.
The project is international, and it's developing in extreme places on earth, where life chances are slim, because of its high dryness, UV radiation, acidity or alkalinity, low temperatures, concentrations of sulphur and salt, etc…
Scientists tell us how, about 3,800 million years, the inanimate matter that existed in our convulsed planet was able to lead to living things. Or maybe those seeds came from space, and it was meteorites and comets which inoculated life on to Earth?
This project began 3 years ago, and it is being advised in the scientific part, by Dr. Carlos Briones y el catedrático Ricardo Amils, pertenecientes al CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) two of the leading researchers in this field .
Take a look at the tv program RTVE Tres14 about the search for life in extreme environments, in which Ricardo Amils gives us a very interesting viewpoint on the subject
WHAT ARE THE FUNS FOR?
The project consists of four stages, two of them have already done. The first one was in the Atacama Desert (Chile) because the extreme dryness and UV radiation, and Rio Tinto (Spain) for its high acidity and high concentration of heavy metals
The fund is requested for the next stage in Iceland, where there are variety of extreme environments and one next to each other: volcanoes, geysers and glaciers.
The full amount of your contributions will be for covering part of the costs of this stage in Iceland: return flights, car hire, travel on the island, mirror, maintenance, etc ...
We get an "Artist Residence" covering part of the accommodation costs.
The funding we requested cover 60% of the total, so if we get a little more, it will be great!
SCHEDULE
Realization of the project, taking pictures, during the month of September.
Edition of the photos, in October.
And in November, we will celebrate with you all, participants and sponsors, the completion of the stage in Iceland!
We will present the whole project in a premiere it in Madrid, and for the contributors who attend there, we will give them their rewards.
Thanks to everyone for being part of it!
