WHAT DO WE WANT TO DO?

Our goal is to shoot a music video directed by Danila Kostil, for the song Space Medusa of Žagar, a headliner group of the Central European indie and electronic music scene.

The song

THE IDEA

Our starting point is the visual art of the 70’, no matter if it’s motion picture, stills, paintings or graphic design.

The secret weapon of the video is the catchy quantity of images. These images are moments of a human being, visual concepts inspired by the song, the visual approach together will tell us about Space Medusa.

The project is inspired by the following story: In the endless universe in a crushed spaceship there are only two survivors, two women. Their spaceship won’t survive and they know that, it’s floating towards to a black hole, the video shows their last moments in the spaceship. The survivors want to enjoy their last seconds and they kiss each other. During the kiss we see their memories, fantasies, dreams, finally we have an impression of an orgasm.

You can find the detailed treatment of the project here.

THE DIRECTOR, Danila Kostil

In 2002 he was awarded for his first one minute long social spot, which was followed by several music videos for leading international bands (The Kolin, Take Me Home, etc.), and documentaries. His 3D stereoscopic videoclip Mountain King for The Kolin is pre-loaded content on Nintendo 3DS consoles all around the world.

He recently finished his first feature length documentary, Kulo City, which was an experiment to combine live action, stop motion and other animation techniques at the same time. With his unique approach to visuals and passion to explore and experiments new ways Danila is constantly searching for new opportunities for storytelling.

WHAT DO WE NEED THE MONEY FOR?

We need to cover the part of the budget which is not solvable without costs, for the rest we have convinced professionals to support us.

There are two main targets of our budget:

  1. A shooting in set during a day or two. We will spend particularly towards the art direction, (speaking of a video based on the visual art of the 70’, with a story taking place in a spaceship), and for the equipment rental.

  2. The costs of processing the material in 16 mm.

CALENDAR

We are planning to shoot as soon as the Verkami project reaches its end, in May 2013.

THE BAND, Žagar

Their debut album was selected for the chart of the 50 all time most important Hungarian records by the music magazine WAN2.
