"Haikus of the animals"

It is a book that wants to assume the innocence and amazement of children with the aim of teaching them to love animals and the living beens in general.

It also teaches to coexist, to be one more in the world, in direct contact with peace, life and the harmony emanating from the natural environment.

The haikus in this book are not written in beautiful words, nor possess creative metaphors, but speak, as clean, spontaneous and simple as possible of a real (apparently insignificant) fact, where the little animal is the protagonist and causes the commotion of the one who writes.

In addition to teaching children and young people to respect and coexist with Nature, "Haikus of the animals" shows in a small prologue what haiku is.

To reach a greater number of children and young people in the world, the book will be published in 4 languages: Spanish, Catalan, English and Japanese.

Art is enjoyment, it is a way to personal growth and several arts are found in "Haikus of the animals": painting, poetry and a very special one: Nature.

How we are

From the writer:

My name is Lazaro, I have a degree in Sociocultural Studies. A few years ago I met the haiku and fell in love with this art. Since then, I transcended the literary part and assumed haiku as a way of life, a way of perceiving the world and acting in front of it. I then began to walk a path, the "Haiku-Dô" or spiritual path of haiku, where any detail of Nature is sufficient to catch my attention and where all the beings around me have the right to exist and have their place in the world. The path (Dô) of haiku teaches to love and give importance to animals and all living beings.

From the illustrator:

My name is Yamil Garrote Palau. I studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Eduardo Abela, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba and then at ISA (Higher Institute of Art) where I graduated in 2012. I have always been interested in Japanese culture, especially their painting and haiku, identifying myself with its aesthetics and vision of life. My work has generally focused on adult audiences, so this work has been a challenge, because my goal is to get the attention of the little ones. On the other hand, it is an honor to be able to use my brushstrokes to bring them a message and why not, entertainment and enjoyment.
