This documentary is a rapprochement from the perspective of Clara, the director, to her grandmother, Montserrat Abelló, a well-known Catalan poet and translator. Clara's main goal is to discover and get through the other existing masks Montserrat has been wearing through all her life, trying to go further than the image she has always had of Montserrat as a grandmother; while referring to other masks such as poet, woman, mother, intellectual, exiled... That is the reason why granddaughter and grandmother are going to spend three days together in their family house in Pals (Girona), where both share most souvenirs of the time spent together during the past years.
Day-to-day moments will come together with deeper conversations that will take place in the different spaces and rooms of the house, where Clara will decipher Montserrat's history and personality, inevitably capturing everything from her granddaughter point of view, but also paying very special attention to the whole creation process of her grandmother.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This project was born in November 2010 as a Final Project of the Degree in Audiovisual Communication (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), in the category of documentary film. During these last months it has been slowly taking shape until becoming a solid project that tries to show a wider and closer image of Montserrat Abelló, as well as capturing the relationship between two generations: from grandmother to granddaughter, from creator to creator, between poetry and cinema.
It is hard not to resort to the idea of the homage, although one of the main motivations is to make a faithful and sincere portrait of someone who, especially in the past years, has received an attention from the media with the same viewpoint and perspective. Her granddaughter now wants to consider this already consolidated public figure from a more intimate and close treatment.
The documentary will approximately have a duration of 25 minutes, and we need to complete the final budget of 2.200€ needed to produce it. The money will be mainly used for covering the expenses of hiring the lighting material, the camera, and part of the traveling expenses for the crew. None of the members of the crew will get an economical reward for their job, so the expenses of the crew will be minimal. Nevertheless, we need more complete technical equipment than the provided by our university; that is the reason why we decided to share our project with all of you.
The shooting will be from the 14th until the 16th April, in Pals. The final cut won't be ready until the end of June.
Apart from being our final project, we strongly believe this documentary has a particular cultural interest as it tries to encapsulate the essence of an important literary figure from an unusual treatment.
We do trust in this project and we are dedicating all our energies to it, but we also believe it is going to be difficult to achieve our objectives without your little help. The smallest contribution will really mean a lot for us, anything will be very welcome.
From now, we can only thank to each and everyone who is helping and supporting us during this long but fulfilling process.

Hola Tyrexito.
