The Dignity Commission (an NGO founded in 2002 working for the recovery of the Historical Memory and the annulment of the crimes of the Francoist regime) wishes to pay tribute to Internacional Brigader Micheál O’Riordan.
What we aim to do
On the 80th anniversary of the event, we are commissioning a 2,5 x 1,5 m painting of the moment in which Irish International Brigade Micheál O'Riordan crossed the river Ebre with his batallion at Vinebre at dawn on July 25th 1938, carrying a Catalan flag on his shoulder.
The painting is to be carried out by artist Pere Piquer, and will be exposed at the Civil War Museum in Gandesa.
Why we are seeking your support
We need your economic support to be able to face the costs of commissioning the picture, the fee of the artist, Pere Piquer, the materials involved and the picture’s transport to Gandesa.
On the rewards
With your aid, according to the contribution made, you can get a copy of the book "Volem els papers" edited by Pagès Editors, a reproduction of the Picture and your presence at a small inauguration party to be held on May 26th in the presence of the family of Michael O’Riordan.
