WHAT IS ZIREN?

Ziren is a science fiction short film we are making for our final thesis at the University of the Basque Country. It will be completely filmed in basque, the language spoken in the Basque Country. We’ll shoot in Bilbao in mid-March and the premiere will be in mid-July. Our goal is to keep going and bring our short to life. To achieve this, we need your help.

SINOPSIS

Carol has recently lost his partner and she’s unable to get over this tragic event. A doctor tells her about a experimental method that will bring him back to life. Carol will have to make an important decision that will change her life forever.

WHAT IS OUR PROJECT ABOUT?

Our story is located in The Basque Country, more specifically in Bilbao. In addition the control humanity may have over the word, we want to show the influence we may have on others in the future. Will we be capable of changing the natural circle of life for our own purposes? In this short film we give one of the possible answers to this question.

WHY DO WE NEED YOUR HELP?

Audiovisual projects are born thanks to many people’s hard work. We need your help to get this movie made We can’t do it without you! Money raised will go to pay the production expenses: hiring the equipment, catering, transport and so on.

WHO ARE WE?

In short, we could say that we are a group of young basque filmmakers. “FILMOLUEGOEDITO” is our little production company. We’ve already carried out some projects with FILMOLUEGOEDITO, the most important was the BETA webseries in 2016.

CAST

ADRIAN GARCIA DE LOS OJOS

Actor and musician from Bilbao. He has composed the soundtrack for plays such as, Romeo y Julieta (2016), La casa de Bernarda Alba (2017), Cabaret Chihuahua (Pianista). Some of his performances as an actor: Un hombre apunta a otro hombre con una pistola, Cabaret chihuahua, Beta or Goenkale.

OLATZ GANBOA

She has performed in film and theatre. Embarazados (2016 Juana Macías), Tres Mentiras (2013 Ana Murugarren), Cabaret Chihuahua (2015 Felipe Loza), Shalamba (2011) or La comedia sin título (2010).

MIKEL LOSADA

Basque actor. He has performed in film and theatre. Films: El guardián invisible (2017), Igelak (2016), Hileta (2016), Txarriboda (2015) or Kutsidazu bidea Ixabel (2006). Plays: La Gaviota, Fausto, Hiritar Eredugarri o Los Enamorados.

Crew

DIRECTOR/SCRIPTWRITER - AITZOL SARATXAGA

Last year he wrote and directed the BETA webseries. Some short films that he worked in were chosen in film festivals like Zinebi, Fant or Cortada. Other projects he worked in: Zentzumenen manifestua, Un mañana mejor, Matrioxka edo Última Sesión.

DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY - IKER ETXEBARRIA

A Young director of photography from Arrigorriaga. Last year, he worked in the BETA webseries as a cinematographer. He also worked in EITB. He’s taken part in other projects such as Matrioxka, Zentzumenen manifestua, La higuera de los bastardos or Si bemol.

ART DIRECTOR – ANTXON NOTARIO

Antxon is an art director from Bilbao. He’s taken part in different audiovisual projects such as, Matrioxka, La higuera de los bastardos, the documentary Sound of roots, the film La tercera ley de Newton and the BETA webseries as the script.Short films he’s taken part in were prized at Zinebi Express and Getxo Express.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – VIOLETA TRINCADO

She worked in La dama Guerrera, Tres Mentiras, Argi and La Higuera de los Bastardos as the script. She also produced and directed more personal projects such as, the BETA webseries, the short El secreto de la tizona and the comedy play Ausartien bidaia.

CAMERA OPERATOR – MIKEL ROMAN

He’s from Bilbao and he currently works in TAOM, making video clips for artist like La Oreja de Van Gogh, Vendetta, Alex Ubago and Esne Beltza. He took part in Un mañana mejor, Última sesión and Milk as the photography director.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER - OIHANE GARCIA

She has made videoclips, transmedia projects and coorporate videos for Durangoko Azoka and other companies. She also took part in the production of short films and documentaries such as, Tomasa, Plus Ultra: frankismoaren arrastroak, Metamorphosis or Si bemol.

CALENDAR

We’ll be filming from the 27th to the 31 of March, and the premiere will be in July.

PREPRODUCTION from October 2016 to February 2017.

POSTPRODUCTION Between April and June, 2017.
