What's the naked truth of the street?

“The Naked Truth of the Street” is a solidary calendar project that has been created by Andrew Funk (president of #HomelessEntrepreneur), Jose Sanabria (Photography Director at The Garage Studio) and Marcos Garrido (1 st #HomelessEntrepreneur who helped co-ordinate the homeless models) to raise funds to create work for homeless people living in Barcelona thanks to their collaboration.

Who are the homeless models and why did they participate?

Marcos Hernández Garrido, Andrzej Jamrozik, Vincent Helvig and other homeless people posed nude with their possessions out of their free will to help raise funds that will provide housing and job opportunities for 12 homeless people living in Barcelona that want to tell their story and work to get and stay off the street.

Why did #HomelessEntrepreneur create this project?

We believe that “talent can change your life” and, in this case, Andrew Funk, Jose Sanabria and Marcos Garrido came together to depict both the beauty and sadness of what living on the street does to a person’s body as well as to show that homeless people can and should play an active role in eliminating homelessness.

What do we need the money for?

According to a recent count that took place in the summer of 2016, Barcelona has 941 rough sleepers that need both housing and work. This calendar will help provide funds for housing and work for 12 homeless people living in the streets of Barcelona. The first 2 #HomelessEntrepreneurs, Andrzej Jamrozik and Vincent Helvig, who actively participated in the project, will be the first recipients of the funds we raise.

Thanks to your collaboration, everyday citizens, like you and me, will be able to give the best gift to Andrzej: A home where he can start a new life and work that will help him become and active, independent citizen.

How will we do it?

By dedicating the funds we raise to the association so we can speed up the process of creating work for both Andrzej and Vincent as well as housing for 1 year:

  • Provide a team of professionals who will focus on improving each homeless person’s housing situation, health, professional career and education.

  • Create a mini-business based on each homeless person’s talent, while creating more traditional job opportunities to provide greater stability.

  • Support for day-to-day needs.

  • Open up real opportunities to actively participate in society again.

We are focusing on homeless people who are unable to receive the proper help they need since the traditional solutions are unable to adapt to their needs.

How will we allocate your contributions?

We want to give 12 homeless people an opportunity to re-enter the job market again while giving them all of the support they need to ensure they stay off the street.

Every 6.912 euros of this campaign will sponsor 1 HomelessEntrepreneur and will go to the following.

  • 1.000 euros/month for 6 months of intensive support: a total of 6,000 euros.

  • 628 euros for Verkami’s commission and payment system to raise campaign money (PayPal or credit card).

  • 284 euros for T-Trimestre (Quarterly travel card).

This opportunity of receiving all of the professional support needed to create income based on their “dream job” while opening up opportunities to find more stable income will last 6-12 months depending on the profile of homeless person. The association will share their daily progress online during the entire program.

What happens if we get more than 100%?

New stretch goal! As we're near 100% of our goal we would like to fix a new and reachable stretch goal. The next goal is to raise 6,912 euros for the next #HomelessEntrepreneur. Every goal we reach will provide a new job opportunity for a homeless person so s/he can get and stay off the street. Our ultimate goal is to help 12 homeless people.

About the rewards

The rewards for this campaign you will allow you to join the “12 People, 12 actions” project to ensure that they don’t don’t sleep on the street. We will provide a reward like the main parts of a castle to illustrate that the fact that we can encourage the fact that #HomelessEntrepreneurs will take this new path together with us.

  • PINYA (base of a castle): For 1 euro, you will receive a poem written by Marcos (first #HomelessEntrepreneur).

  • SOCA (pinya with folre and maniples): For 10 euros, all of the above plus the solidary calendar.

  • FOLRE (reinforces the pinya of a castle): For 20 euros, all of the above plus a personal dedication by each #HomelessEntrepreneur on your calendar explaining what your support means to them.

  • TRONC (visible part of a castle): For 40 euros, you will have all of the above plus a meeting with 1 of the #HomelessEntrepreneurs in person or via Skype if you live in another city.

  • POM DE DALT (the castle’s dome): For 100 euros, your logo/link will be on either all printed material (Cardboard signs, flyers, #HE products & presentations) or all digital material (web page, social media, videos & presentations) for one of our #TodosDurmiendoEnLaCalle events as the main sponsor.

  • DOSOS (they support the aixecador): For 300 euros, your logo/link will be on all printed material (Cardboard signs, flyers, #HE products & presentations) and all digital material (web page, social media, videos & presentations) for the HomelessEntrepreneur you have sponsored.

  • AIXECADOR (supports the enxaneta): For 1.000 euros, your logo/link will be on all printed material (Cardboard signs, flyers, #HE products & presentations) and all digital material (web page, social media, videos & presentations) for one of our #TodosDurmiendoEnLaCalle events as the main sponsor.

  • ENXANETA (top of the castle): For 6,912 euros, your logo/link will be on all printed material (Cardboard signs, flyers, #HE products & presentations) and all digital material (web page, social media, videos & presentations) for the HomelessEntrepreneur you have sponsored. We will also create 1 Special campaign to promote awareness about homelessness and you as a sponsor.

How does Verkami works?

  • Step 1: You decide the reward you prefer from the list on the right.

  • Step 2: You make your pledge using your PayPal or credit card.

  • Step 3: You will be only be charged if we reach 100% of our goal.

If we don't reach 100% of our goal you will be not charged but we won't be able to produce the rewards and use the funds to help homeless people to reach their dreams.

Estimated schedule

Once funds are received, we will dedicate them to a core team of professionals to ensure that the association can speed up the process of getting the #HomelessEntrepreneurs back into the job market, which will take 6 months of intense work through our program.

We will print and send the calendars as soon as we finish the campaign. We are estimating to deliver all calendars by February 2017 but it will depend on the number of backers supporting the campaign.
