Pictures of the Montseny – faces of the terrain is a photographic work which contains specifically studio portraits all taken in the Montseny Natural Park. The people are inhabitants of the Montseny and its surroundings, and all of them very connected to this countryside from generation to generation throughout the centuries. The work has the specialty that the photographic sessions have been done in situ, so the protagonists had no need to move out of their everyday and familiar environment.
With a portable photographic equipment, people were interviewed in their own atmosphere: farmhouses, farmyards and woods. Solely concentrating with the person’s look and face the landscape disappears and can be found in their aspect, their traits and their skin. In an effort to capture the rural person’s ancestral way of life rooted in the land and old customs that are almost obsolete.
The publication will be accompanied by a narrative text that follows my journey, my experience and my interaction with the inhabitants of the emblematic, unique territory.
Rewards.
BOOK. The compensation for your contribution to the book is the delivery of the finished work, a copy of the book “Portraits of Montseny”, faces of the terrain. High quality edition of 150 pages, photographic work in black and white with heavyweight varnished finishes. The size will be 21x29cm. The number of copies will be based on the contributions of Verkami. Postage to outside Spain contact me by email.
Photo session:- With the option Flash Pack, besides a copy of the book, a portrait photographic session is included. For one person, with the same technique used in my work. The session can be in your own home or in any other location enabled by the portable studio equipment. (Barcelona, Girona and surroundings).
Your Contributions.
Your contributions are to cover the expenses of printing.
Calendar
The idea is that the book will be printed at the beginning of June. It can be mailed or hand delivered directly in the various exhibitions that will be organized in the localities around the Montseny. The expositions will start in the Ethnological Museum of Montseny, (Arbucies), in August and September 2016. The rest of the events, exhibitions and presentations will communicated through the contact address you leave in Verkami.
Finally.
I invite you to be part of this project which is the result of my immense passion and curiosity to know the roots of this territory. I learned a lot, I really enjoyed it. All my interest in Art and in the land are reflected in this work. But mostly you will find the greatest respect for people who have allowed me to look into their eyes through my camera. They are the ones who give us this profound human connection with the infinite Montseny landscape.
