La nit estesa
La nit estesa or Night Extended is an action novel, hardboiled, sometimes cruel, and pretty fast-paced.
Set in Ibiza, the story deals with the physical and mental downfall of Pau, a guy of twenty-something and his girlfriend Sara. Back on the needle, his life seems to move like quicksand. Everyday activities lose their charm. Pau gets tangled with the law while his drug addiction interferes increasingly with his relationship. Things turn out pretty bad on the white isle when Pau faces up a mafia guy who, falling for his girl, can't wait to see him dead. Pau gambles everything - maybe too much! - to get out alive.
Taking you to darkness' deepest bottom, this innovative pulp novel will surprise you with its surrealistic and psychedelic twist.
I'm a neophyte author in the landscape of Catalan literature. As an author I delight in diving headlong into a topic most authors and publishers avoid, addiction, the hassle between police, criminals and mafia and its consequences. Having said that it's quite clear to see that it's pretty difficult to publish a book with this topic, which is a wee bit heavy and not easy on the stomach. I live in Ibiza, and everybody who lives here and does not close their eyes, knows about it. My decision was to make a book that mixes style elements, blending a pretty authentic base with just a fraction of surrealist style.
La nit estesa is hence an avant-garde book. It's the first of its kind and maybe the only one as well. Therefore, you would not only help an author with a very interesting story, very much rooted in today's reality, but also you would be helping a very cool project where authentic facts, surrealism, lyricism and a little bit of literary craziness are combined. If you are a bit fond of the crazy books, but also like serious topics, you surely will like La nit estesa.
How will we assign your pledges?
Pledges will be used to auto-publish a book already written and proof-read, that's been waiting in my drawer for the last two years. To make this text accessible to an interested community, I would like to bring out a small and sensible edition of 250 copies.
The main part of the pledges will be allocated to production, printers, formatting the printable PDF, and graphics design, as well as production of t-shirts.
What will I do if I exceed my primary objective?
If this really happens, I would love to provide for a small extra gift for all crowd-funders, which could be a postcard, or a mini poster for fans. Or well, almost anything. I reckon I would decide things very democratically on my blog, I would say what is viable, and the crowd-funders could vote.
I could also think of making a small extra number of books to donate to the public libraries of Ibiza, Barcelona and Valencia among other cities.
Or one could finance a trip to make a public lecture in Barcelona or in Valencia (depending on where the majority of the crowd-funders come from). In any case, I would explain everything detailed in order to make myself understood in a very transparent and sensible way.

Anticipated schedule
Formatting the printable PDF, design, production of the book, production of the T-shirt - approximately one month, maybe one month and a half.
Shipping of the books / t-shirts to all sponsors (depends on how many there will be) which I will hope won't take me longer than one week or two (maximum).
Two months approximately altogether.

muchas gracias por tus preguntas. Acabo de leer tu enlace y me gusta mucho. Tambien soy antidrogas. Además que soy muy fan de Aldous Huxley y sus opiniones. Igualmente no quiero engañarte. No es una apología de las drogas, al contrario. No quiero decir que el libro es un libro antidrogas, pero si hubiera una tendencia, seria seguramente más anti-drogas que pro-drogas, eso sí es cierto. Pero tambien ten en cuenta que es una obra literaria y tiene capítulos donde se ve muy claro lo malo que se producen por las drogas. Y tambien como es una novela negra, ten en cuenta que explica muy detalladamente lo que te pasa si te enganchas y lo que te puede suceder cuando te metes en un lio con las drogas y los que te venden la droga. Bueno, por fin, La nit estesa es una novela bien crítica. Lo siento por la mala gramàtica, me va mejor en catalán. ;)

Pues, claro que sí. Por què no? :D La verdad es que no creo en la división estricta entre hombres y mujeres. Soy mujer, madre, pero no me defino solo porque tengo tetas y eso. Pienso que soy genderfluid. A mi me encanta todo el tema de androgino.
Este tema no sale en la novela, pero como me lo has preguntado, te he contestado.
