A PHOTOBOOK ABOUT 15M?

With this book we want to collect some visual or written witness of this movement; tiny moments in time that have been recorded in our memories: lucid voices, some poignant, some full of humour, that from anonymity, have been written in thousands of tweets or banners.

We want to keep in paper some of the shared memory from 15M onto 19J in order to not forgett that future sometimes is revealed as something really promising.

In resume, we want to catch up trough a book a sightseeing to the essence of this movement that’s still on going.

*THE UTILITY OF THE BOOK *

This book we want to release it’s not only a collection of cute photographs, it is the expression of thousands of voices and emotions who, whit courage and dignity, have said stop whit all this.

In relation whith the photos, you’ll find the proposals and discussions arised all around the camps thorugh the most shared links in the net or the most retweeted topics. The idea is to bring them to those people who don’t have access to the net, but also to open the chance to enjoy these materials out of the speedy way of being of the social nets.

THE SCREENPLAY

The starting point of the book aret he demonstrations that happended all around Spain on the 15th of may and the first camp in the Sol square of Madrid: as the origin of the “Indignats” movement that in few days or weeks occupied squares all along the spanish state, ellaborating critical practices and contents, onto the demonstrations of the 19th of june, who brought hundreds of thousands of people to the streets of their cities.

We’d like to focus in our nearest reality, through #acampadabcn, but also to his surroundings through the camps or assemblies born in hundreds of neighborhoods, towns or other catalan cities. We’ll have especial attention to the rellevant moments that this movement has passed through, to the different challenges that became, and to the proposals of coordination or actions that were assumed.

The “indignats” revolt has been extensive and tranverse, overcoming the silence of the media, appearing in conversations and discussions everywhere, and has also been replicated all aorund our countries. Here lays the strength of the movement, and so we want to reflect trough images and tweets all this demonstrations, assemblies or camps, and their most important moments. Also having a look to the rage that exploited in Greece, to the solidarity we find in the Paris camp, or the arrogance of the public institutions in Valencia. But we also want to talk about, and share, the importance of all that camps, assemblies, who, from the modesty of the little towns or villages, have contributed to this movement, showing that this is a collective and massive action.

We’ll develop this project following an exhaustive timeline in order to allow us to refind that moments, but also to realise about the different realities lived all around, and finally, in order to allow us to make some comments or (auto)criticizing thoes realities, first and essential step if we want this movement to keep on growing and going.

INTERCOOPERATION AS WAY OF WORKING

In this social and polithical movement, we can find cooperation and intercooperation laying in the base, also in the collaborations that the editor group have made with it. The cooperative practice has been the most common way of doing for most of the people who built the movement, also for us. Now, when we have left the squares and we returned to our daily projectes, we don’t want to leave this method, even in the creation of this project.

The editor group is composed by Llibres a Mida (catalan editors), the Setmanari de Comunicació Directa (alternative media) and the cooperatives La Ciutat Invisible and Claraboia Audiovisual. If you want to have more information about this projectes, you can follow the links upside.

This book would have been an impossible project without the collaborations of the people related to the alternative written media (Directa or El Diagonal), or to the audiovisual work comissions of the different camps, or to the alternative TV project (latele.cat) or even the anonymous people that have contact us to give us their photographs, all following a Creative Commons license.

WHAT DO WE EARN?

As long as in the squares movement there has been non-profit relations, covering the collective economical necessities with personal contributions, we don’t want to make any business from this book. All your personal contribuitons made trough Verkami, or with the bonus or trough transferences to our bank account (Triodos Bank: 1491 0001 22 2010056824) we’ll be spent to cover the production and public diffusion of the project, but not to cover our work. Even Verkami has waived, due to the collective mode of the project, the 5% of profit from the contributions made to the projects financed by crowdfunding.

REMUNERATIONS AND PROFITS

The work done by the different professionals related to the project will be covered by the benefits made trough the selling of the book. Any of the contribuitons received via Verkami or the other ways will be used to cover this.

When the bookselling starts and we get some benefits, we will be able to retribute all the people that has collaborated in the creation of the project. The amounts have been fixed previously, and they will never be overpassed.

Once all these amounts have been covered, and so the benefits that could eventually be made from a second edition of the book, the editor group has decided to give all this money to the alternative media projectes that have helped and contributed in a definitive way to the development of the movement, spending hours ans days in order to keep us informed via newspapers, streamings, or others. We believe that is fundamental that this alternative media projects keep on going in time, even more in the grey times that seem to be our immediate future.
