Life Between Cuts is a documentary that explores the unique connection that is created in the hairdressing, barbering and beauty spaces. Through the authentic stories of people from diverse backgrounds, the documentary shows how these places become havens where everyone, regardless of their social, cultural or economic situation, find a space to feel good and safe.
Beyond cuts and styles, each encounter is an opportunity to share experiences, overcome challenges and even face illnesses. With a focus on empathy and community, ‘Life Between Cuts’ invites the viewer to reflect on the importance of human connection and the transformative power of a simple haircut.

Essence of our project
In a world where personal care and attention are essential, the work of hairdressers also serves to care for people with reduced mobility, help in the process of searching for identity or chronic illnesses.They accompany their clients at every stage of their lives, becoming an essential pillar of their physical and mental health. Their salons are not just workplaces; they are community spaces where the well-being of all is a priority.
Since 2012, the VAT on their essential services has increased from 8% to 21%, a change that has impacted their work and the work of those who depend on them. Personal image professionals pride themselves on providing not only the best technical services, like haircuts, colouring and cutting-edge innovations, but also a human and social approach. Together, they can demonstrate that their work goes beyond aesthetics: they are essential to the health and well-being of society.

Chema Abellón
Actor and scriptwriter, Chema is the director of ‘Life Between Cuts’. With his experience in front of the camera, he seeks to convey the emotions and the impact that personal image professionals have on the lives of their clients. Follow him on Instagram: @chemaabellon!
Hugo Alonso
Hairdresser and manager of Absolutely Ego since 2007, Hugo is a key figure in the documentary. His passion intensified during the pandemic, when he started fighting for the reinstatement of reduced VAT. Use of funds: transparency and commitment
The funding will be mainly used to hire an audiovisual professional who will be in charge of editing the documentary, given that we have more than 60 hours of recordings, which require careful treatment to properly reflect the essence of the project.
Production plan
If we get the funding, the production schedule will start immediately, as all rewards are virtual, except for the premiere. We estimate that, within 3 to 4 months, we will be able to complete the production of the documentary and deliver the rewards to our sponsors. This planning will allow us to ensure an efficient execution and meet the expectations of our supporters.

Hoy queremos compartir con vosotrxs un pequeño adelanto de lo que está por llegar. Os presentamos la portada de nuestro dossier de 'La Vida Entre Cortes', donde ya podéis conocer a los seis protagonistas que dan vida y alma a esta historia tan especial.
Cada rostro, cada mirada, cada historia refleja todo lo que queremos contar: la fuerza, la pasión y la humanidad que hay detrás de cada corte de pelo.
Estamos en la fase final de montaje y no podemos estar más felices con el resultado. ¡Gracias por acompañarnos en este viaje! Sin vosotrxs, nada de esto sería posible.

Y para que este tiempo en el que estamos trabajando, además de mantenerles informadxs de los avances, también les queremos entretenidxs: nuestro productor Hugo Alonso ha vuelto a colaborar en el programa de la Cadena Ser 'Hoy por Hoy' de #ÀngelsBarceló, esta vez hablando del cardado, ¡no se lo pierdan!:
