Cesar Viana: Works for Solo Piano

Pianist Carlos Marín Rayo will make a recording of Cesar Viana's solo piano music, for a CD coming out in May 2025.

The music will be recorded on a magnificent grand piano, in a cutting-edge recording studio near Lisbon, and we have made every effort to engage the best sound engineer and piano technician.

Who we are

We (César and Carlos) have been working together since 2012, when Carlos premiered Cesar's short composition La Celosa, which will be included on this CD. We were teacher and student at the conservatoire when we first met, but quickly discovered mutual inspiration and shared interests, and we became good friends. From then on, we maintained a close artistic relationship, performing as a flute/piano duo, in orchestra as conductor and soloist, and performing Cesar's works; this collaboration resulted in the creation of works such as Return of the Heracleide, Bagatela para Miguel Bustamante, Campanas de León, and O Maria Deo Maire, all of which were premiered by Carlos and performed worldwide. It was about time that we completed this decade-long collaboration and friendship by launching this recording project.

What do we need the money for

All the funds raised through this crowdfunding campaign will be used to cover costs with recording studio, piano, and tuning, as well as mastering and distribution charges for the album. Your contribution can make all the difference in enabling the release of this CD! We sincerely appreciate the support of all of our friends, followers, and music lovers.

Planned schedule

All the rehearsals, recordings and post-production will happen from January to May 2025. The contributors' rewards will be available from the moment the CD is launched. We expect it to be around May 2025.
