Luz tras la Oscuridad (Light after Darkness)

Light after Darkness is a journey of introspection and discovery, of reflection and self-knowledge, which starts from the gloom and solitude in which we are sometimes involved; It is a path to which, little by little, calm comes, and which is finally occupied by joy, thus reminding us that it is possible to find light behind darkness.

Dear listener, this is a very personal album with which I want to share a vital moment, a significant one, one of those that start from the darkness, accompany you to the sun and along the way transform you. Through the music I have selected, you will go through the different emotions that each piece arouses in me based on my experiences and memories.

Who am I?

My name is Elena Ortega and I am a classical guitarist from Madrid specialized in Spanish repertoire, although I also feel a great interest in other music, especially those of popular origin.

My eagerness to continue learning and perfecting myself has led me to study several master's degrees and guitar courses after finishing the Higher Degree in Madrid, receiving classes from teachers such as David Russell, Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Iliana Matos, Àlex Garrobé, Laura Verdugo del Rey, Ricardo Gallén, Francisco Bernier, Judicael Perroy, Zoran Dukic, …

During the last few years I have had the opportunity to perform both inside and outside Spain, which has allowed me to meet many people from different countries and cultures and thus enrich myself as an artist and as a human being.

In 2023 I won an award in the 'Best Instrumentalist' category at the InterContinental Music Awards in Los Angeles for my recording of "Capricho Catalán" (I. Albéniz), included in my first album Rumores del Mediterráneo.

Why 'Light after Darkness'?

This project was born from the need to share with others a vital experience with which anyone could feel identified at some point in their life.

When one falls into a pit of darkness because of different circumstances, sometimes it is difficult to see beyond and find the way out. However, even in the semi-darkness it is possible to find a ray of sunlight that guides us and helps us: memories, purposes, people... This album is also an acknowledgment to them. I just hope that music accompanies you and saves you just as it has done with me.

There are many parties involved in this album and without which it would not have been possible, from the conception of the idea to the last design details.

• The album will be released under the record label JSM Records and it was recorded at the Rockaway Studios in Castellón de la Plana with the producer and sound engineer [Javier Salvador] )https://www.javiersalvador.com/).

• Behind the production is José Domenech and the entire Strommar team.

• As for the design of the physical CD, I count on the good work and experience of Meetel S.L..

What will your contribution be used for?

The money raised will go towards assuming the manufacturing costs of the physical CD and also all the expenses associated with the rewards of this campaign: production, manufacturing, shipping costs, etc.

If the target to be raised is exceeded, that amount will be invested in the creation of audiovisual material to continue promoting the project.

Planned schedule

Depending on the destination, patrons will start receiving their rewards by September or October.

For rewards that include a masterclass or private concert, the date will be agreed according to the availability of both parties, avoiding the months of October and November.
