DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT
The young composer petrelense David Valera, invites us to embark on an unprecedented musical adventure: the recording of a festive music album written for a band that captures the vibrant essence of the Moros & Cristianos festivals of Petrer and Elda, recorded in the revolutionary and innovative Dolby Atmos format. This represents an extremely high quality of sound recording and performance by a semi-professional band and choir.
This project aims to transcend the traditional boundaries of festive music, offering an immersive experience where depth, directionality, and clarity of sound take center stage. The adoption of the Dolby Atmos format allows the listener to be placed at the heart of the festivities, surrounded by epic melodies, intoxicating rhythms, etc., recreating a sonic space that seems to extend beyond the physical limits of hearing thanks to this recording format.
Since 2017, the composer from Petrer has written a total of 13 commissioned works for the Moros y Cristianos festivals of Petrer. The selected repertoire will include marchas moras, marchas cristianas, pasos maseros, pasodobles, and a procesión, all original compositions by David Valera, each with its own story and unique character.
The recording will require a meticulous process where the arrangement of the musicians, the selection of instruments, and the acoustics of the venue will be key to capturing the essence of the music in all its dimensions. David, along with a team of sound engineers specialized in Dolby Atmos, will pay special attention to every detail to ensure that the audience can experience a new sonic dimension that has not yet been explored in this musical genre. That's why it will be recorded at the Municipal Auditorium of Castalla, known for its guarantee of sound quality.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
With this project, the composer not only continues his trajectory of honoring the musical heritage and festive music of his town but also asserts the place of Petrer and Elda on the cultural map.
With the recording of this album, in addition to documenting a total of 13 newly created works of festive music from Petrer, the aim is to make a mark in the history of Moros & Cristianos music, inviting listeners from around the world to immerse themselves in an auditory spectacle that captures the spirit, passion, and glory of the festivals of Petrer. It will represent a tribute to the festivals of Petrer and also position itself as a reference in the recording of festive music, demonstrating how technological innovation can merge with tradition to offer a new way of appreciating cultural heritage.
DOLBY ATMOS FORMAT
The recording of this album, and particularly the quality that is aimed for, is among the highest currently, which is why it will be recorded in Dolby Atmos format. Dolby Atmos is a surround sound technology that goes beyond traditional sound formats. Unlike standard surround sound systems (e.g., Dolby Surround), which assign sound to specific channels (such as left, right, or center), Dolby Atmos can treat sound as independent objects that can move freely in a three-dimensional space. This allows sound engineers and technicians to precisely place sounds anywhere in space, as well as above the listener, creating a more realistic and enveloping immersive experience.
The importance of recording the album in Dolby Atmos format is significant for several reasons: immersiveness, sound quality, creativity, competitiveness in the market, and compatibility with modern equipment.
The decision to record the album in Dolby Atmos format not only places the project at the forefront of technology but also ensures that the musical experience will be conveyed to listeners in the most immersive and spectacular way possible.
