This global campaign seeks your collaboration to present at Brtnice Castle copies of seven tapestries depicting the story of Tristan and Isolde, designed by the Italian painter Titian.
These tapestries were displayed in Brtnice Castle from 1723 to 1930. Since then, they have been kept in Brussels.

Who Am I??
I am Eduardo García Salas, a violinist from Lleida who has lived in the Czech Republic for many years.
Since November 2020, I have served as the President of the Brtnice Castle Association in the Czech Republic.
Until 1623, the owners of the castle were the Valdštejn family, and from 1623 to 1947, it belonged to the Italian Collalto family.
Through the Brtnice Castle Association, we aim to restore copies of Titian's tapestries that were housed in the castle from 1723 to 1930. Today, the original tapestries are located in Brussels.

Estimated Dates
The public presentation of the copies of Titian's seven tapestries is scheduled for November 15, 2024, on the feast of Saint Leopold.
A procession will take place from the statue of Saint Leopold in Brtnice to the castle. The statue was commissioned by Antonio Rambaldo Collalto (who brought the tapestries to Brtnice) so that on November 15, 1723, Emperor Charles VI could pray to Saint Leopold.

Fun fact
In the music hall of Brtnice Castle are the coats of arms of Vinciguerra Thomas Collalto and his wife Maria Antonia de Silva, daughter of José de Silva, a native of Vélez (Málaga) and Manuela de Alagón, a native of Chinchón. This couple of counts not only bought the last violin concerts of Antonio Vivaldi in 1741, but also in October 1762 in their Collalto palace in Vienna, they organized the first concert of a young Mozart in the Austrian capital.
