The Eagle and the Compass

Discover the forgotten story of bravery and sacrifice in 'The Eagle and the Compass', a comic that sheds light on the Freemasons in Spain during the Spanish Civil War and Franco's dictatorship; focusing on the harrowing story of the members of the Pythagoras Lodge in the Balearic Islands that was brutally assaulted on 19 July 1936 by members of the Falange and the Juventudes de Acción Popular.

Our commitment to historical rigor and exhaustive research is based on original sources, archival documents, letters and photographs of the main characters, etc., which is reflected in each vignette, without compromising the quality of an exciting plot that delves into the conflict and its protagonists.

This captivating tale unfolds over 72 pages of exceptional quality, in Spanish language, in A4 format (21 X 29.7 cm), beautifully illustrated in colour and bound in hardback with flat spine.

For only 25€, you can get a copy of 'The Eagle and the Compass', shipping in Spain included (for shipping to EU and non-EU countries, you will have to choose the corresponding reward) and your name will appear in the acknowledgements of 'The Eagle and the Compass'.

In addition, as a thank you for your support, you will have a number of exclusive rewards at your disposal that you will not be able to get on the market afterwards such as:

• A4 sheet on high grammage paper with our homage to the main characters of 'The Eagle and the Compass'.

Juan Cantero (intellectual creator, editor and project coordinator): mason belonging to the Grand Lodge of Spain - Spanish Grand Orient; Worshipful Master of the Arquímedes Lodge nº32 of Palma de Mallorca and current Head of Communications of the Provincial Grand Lodge of the Balearic Islands.

Miquel Jaume (author, scriptwriter and cartoonist): with a vintage, underground style, as well as training in self-publishing, illustration and a degree in P.E. with an artistic speciality, he has published different works, including 'Terror talaiòtic' and 'Germanies: crònica dels alçaments populars a Mallorca'.

In addition, we have the supervision and historical advice of Dr. David Ginard, Professor of Contemporary History at the Universitat de les Illes Balears and Dr. Juan José Morales, Tutor Professor of Contemporary Spanish History at the UNED.

Regarding the costs of the project, these have been meticulously considered to cover all essential aspects. Calendar

At the beginning of this crowdfunding campaign, we have spent several months reviewing documentation and consulting different documentary sources in order to make a work as faithful to history as we can. For this reason, we need 12 months for this project to be ready with all the guarantees and the quality you deserve.

We need most of this time to develop the script, drawing, inking and colouring. At this time, we will carry out a spell and style check, layout and printing of 'The Eagle and the Compass', as well as the preparation of the extras. Finally, we will proceed to send you your reward, which we hope you will receive before Christmas 2024.
