What is the VerdCel 2023 Life Tree?

This year we are planting a very special tree.

The seed becomes a root that finds another root. Together they are a single trunk that will become two branches and these will give birth to 2 new fruits:

The biggest one will be the birth of a Completely New Album (Book+LP) by VerdCel.

And secondly, a very unique limited edition reissue of the album Sàmara on its 15th anniversary.

The New Album.

📀 It will contain 12 songs of creation and a book 📘 with texts by 17 writers who have created texts related to the album's subjects, in addition to graphic stories by Daniel Olmo. A very powerful plastic and literary volume. Quite an exceptional travel companion for the songs on the album.

This new album invokes the father origins and looks down south: towards the Valencian Country, the Catalan Countries, the peninsula.

We have dedicated more efforts and resources than ever before to make a great work that we hope you can enjoy in all its dimensions. Stay tuned as we reveal all its parts and the inside.

As musicians, we tend to say, often carried away by emotion, that our last work is the best.

We can honestly say that in this case it is the most important record we have worked on.

During the composition and pre-production the demand has been maximum. And many times the production deviates from the original intentions of a record, but now we have allocated all the means and efforts to achieve the goal.

ReSàmara.

In addition, we will fly the seed with wings again to find and deepen the mother branch, Alcoi and grandma. We will reach new emotional landscapes.

We will release, with a limited edition, a new EP with 7 new songs and the completely redrawn book with a size of 24x25cm and new scenes and vignettes. It will be much more than a reissue.

Who are we?

Alfons Olmo became VerdCel at the beginning of the 2000s, starting a songwriting project by an independent and multifaceted author that embraces music, image, text, action. It points to where commitment and beauty are integrated on the horizon.

A journey of 20 years on stage, 15 published records, 10 books and several audiovisual works (documentaries, shorts, clips, lyrics).

The high-quality team of this double project (New Album and ReSàmara) has involved (nothing less than) over forty people, with the musical production by Toni Medialdea, at the Sol studio of Sants, with Alberto Pérez at the helm, Daniel Olmo's graphic design and illustrations, Angelo Manhenzane's percussion, Marcel Ferrer's keyboards and vocals, and other fellow musicians, singers, writers, producers, managers and artists that we will discover for you.

What will we use the contributions for?

The amount collected will be invested in the large part of the production of the 2 CD-Books, prints, illustrations and photographs, as well as the costs of shipping, bank commissions and the Verkami platform.

If we exceed the manufacturing funding figure, then we'll hit a second target.

On the one hand, we will expand the project by reaching other areas also necessary in the accompaniment and launch of a double cultural project such as the VerdCel 2023 Life Tree, making new audiovisual works with Clips and Video Lyrics. And hopefully we can wipe out some of the high production costs of the music and its book.
