The other reality of Cannabis

“The other reality of Cannabis” is an audiovisual project that focuses on the medical application of cannabinoids. It consists of three distinct and united parts.

The first one will be published in June of 2013 . It's a medium-length, called "Unexpected paths", in which we tell the story of a woman with breast cancer, of conservative social class that ends by testing the Cannabis.

With this feature films we will make a circuit with some associations of Breast Cancer that have requested us to project the film and give them all the information about the anti-tumor action of cannabinoids.

The second part of the project is a medical documentary, called "The other reality of Cannabis", which only involves scientists and sicks. We'll publish this movie in March 2014. We work with doctors like Manuel Guzman, Jose Carlos Bouso, Ricardo Navarrete, Fernando Caudevilla, Guillermo Velasco ...

In this documentary we will talk with Cancer patients, HIV, Glaucoma, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis and we'll see how it's the day-to-day activities of a person who is not worth it by herself, that she has many financial resources, that she is socially marginalized because the public health is not able to serve her properly, her personal and family problems ... all this combined with the illegality and clandestinity that she must live for resorting to cannabis.

SYNOPSIS OF THE FILM "UNEXPECTED PATHS"

Cristina is an independent mother who gives Law classes at the University of Pamplona. She enjoys an accommodated live together with his Architect husband and her two children. Though the relations with the major sound tense, the teenager will fulfill a key paper in the history.

Cristina has never skipped the established procedure. But one day the doctors detect her Breast Cancer and her life will give an unexpected draft. She will have to choose between living with the sequels of her disease or looking for alternatives that improve her quality of life. The problem is that Cristina will has to use unimaginable methods that will break her conception of the appropriate thing.

What does happen in the people when the health does not work correctly? And if the disease is too tight, in what place do the taboos and the morality stay? In “Another reality of Cannabis” there appear different testimonies of scientists, doctors, experts, pharmacists and experts in cannabinoids, that will open the discussion concerning the medical properties of this thousand-year-old plant and demoniacal too, simultaneously.

Is the cannabis the medicine of the future? Is it, as some people affirm, the panacea of the 21st century? Or is it, as they say others, a plant without medical usefulness and that opens the doors for the consumption of other drugs?

For the first time, the patients will speak how it is to live with his ailment out of the law. If a plant is capable of relieving your disease, would you use it?. If in addition they say to you that there are scientific investigations that supports these medical properties why would you have to use it in an illegal way?

We are Journalists, Photographers, Publishers, Filmmakers, Patients and Social activists worried by the current situation of the Health, the increase of the drug trafficking, the disinformation, and the roll of the pharmacists.

WHO DOES DIRECT THIS?

Aintzane Castillo enters into the world of the communication with 16 years across Eguzki Irratia. This leads her to studying Vocalization and Journalism. She is formed also in Photography, Interpretation and Txalaparta, autochthonous Basque instrument. She completes her wireless formation in Barcelona and studies in addition, Interpretation and Dubbing.

Along her path, she is employed as producer, sound technician and announcer at different radios. Also she dares with the direction and executive production of the pop video " Beyond the dessert " for the musical group Harvest in 2010.

In her trip for Catalan lands, she writes some scripts for television, directs several advertising campaigns and is employed as editor at different publications. In 2006 she founds the cultural platform Panymusika. She turns into musical manager of different bands and begins to organize concerts and musical festivals.

She proves luck as television hostess and she is also nominated boss production of the record social one An Artist Supports. In 2011, in a record time of five months, she edits for her platform of crow funding seventeen musical discs.

The journalist and producer Aintzane Castillo was born in Pamplona in 1980. She began in the mass media sixteen years thanks to Eguzki Irratia. She is an socially activist and has many studies of sound and a master in Broadcasting. In addition, she is an actress of dubbing and a great lover of the dogs. It has been employed at national radios as Cadena Ser, M80 and Cadena Cope and in others of municipal area.

WHO DOES COMPOSE THE SONOROUS BAND?

Paco Serén, component of the group Om/off and ex--component of The Pirates. He is a composer and producer of several sonorous bands, as that of the Documentary " The Swimming pool " in 2004, the short " Boa viaxe " in 2005 and documentary " Camposancos's Brief " . He has many experience as musical programmer, guitar, keyboards and sitar of Presuntos Implicados, Jeannette Chao, Soledad Jiménez, Efecto Mariposa, Los Piratas and Om/Off. He is constructing instruments of Hemp for the occasion. We show you a flageolet, a flute with metallic sounds, type oboe.

Paco Serén is accompanied by Pablo Álvarez who began his musical career at the end of the decade of the 80's taking part in the formation of bands of emergent musicians and finding in under his principal ally at the moment of expressing his worries and marking trend in the decade of the 90's until 2003 when Los Piratas belonging to the Vigo band.

WHICH IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS PROJECT?

Spreading the medical properties of Cannabinoids.

WHY DO WE DO A PROJECT LIKE THAT?
Though it has used medically for more than fifty centuries, it has been a prohibited plant and wretched in almost the whole new liberal world during many decades. The scientific investigation on the active components of the plant has experienced a spectacular summit but the legal restrictions impede the complete study of its therapeutic potential.

Different tests realized demonstrates that the compounds of the Cannabis can disable the nauseas and vomits associated with the chemotherapy, increases the appetite, attenuates the loss of weight, relieves the pain, diminishes the anxiety and allows a better conciliation of the dream. Also it can reduce the neuropathic pain and the spasticity in patients of multiple sclerosis, and the loss of appetite and weight that they take place in AIDS patients. And these are only some of its medical uses. Then, why are there any restrictions that prevent that the scientists do well their work?

Pharmacists already are investigating products that contain synthetic compounds of cannabis. Some clinical tests have demonstrated the benefit of the extract of cannabis acquaintance as Sativex, in patients with multiple sclerosis. This information has led to the approval of the medicament in the United Kingdom, Spain, Denmark, Germany and the Czech Republic.

HOW DID IT BEGIN EVERYTHING?

This history is based on the life itself. When I was twenty-six years old doctors diagnosed me a bony disease. Since then, I started consuming Cannabis. I took this decision when the doctors stopped offering me effective treatments. I proved acupuncture, Thai chi, Homeopathy, Hypnosis, Meditation, Chi kung ... and disagreeable enough things. I got in the world of desperate Cannabis, looking for a relief to my chronic pains and my problems of bones. Later, I started reading very much on this plant and its different uses, spoke with patients who were resorting to the Cannabis like me, with doctors ... and I met wrapped in this odyssey. I initiated this project on having felt in my own skin what the patients consuming Cannabis feel: the emotional hurt provoked by the hopelessness.

The scientific investigation about the active components of the plant has experienced a spectacular summit, but the legal restrictions impede the complete study of its therapeutic potential. Though the immediate future seems to be based on medicines derived directly from the Cannabis, it is necessary to bear in mind that the prices of these medicaments are prohibitive for the patient.

We want to bring this another reality over to any person, independently of his status socially. To facilitate this understanding, we have developed a completely interactive project, where the opinion of the spectator is born in mind, from the beginning of the work up to its premiere in Internet, cinema and TV. The public takes decisions together with the technical equipment to take forward this project. They have been the own spectators who have chosen the title of the documentary, some of the contents and the way of distributing it.

To make its comprehension easier, we show a history of fiction based on true stories, as well as contents extras (making off, trailer, complete interviews of the testimonies …) We look for an alternative to the current cinema and to its way of developing it, marked by the producers and distributors. We want to understand the cinema as it is understood by the public, who is the principal protagonist. For it, we have looked for the way of producing this project with all the creative possible freedom, and of generating a series of synergies with our hearing by means of which that everything to be able, before, listen, know that they want to see, to them how and when. To give to the spectator the opportunity to take part in those things in which it would have liked to inform us. And of encouraging them to contribute also his creative vision on our ideas. " The oother reality of Cannabis " forms a part of this change of paradigm in the way of understanding how it is financed, takes place and the movies are distributed. A change in how they are seen and are consumed. A small step towards a much more creative, accessible, freer model completely adapted to the spectator.

WHY THE COLLECTIVE FINANCING?
Since I learned the virtues of the crowd funding I decided that any project that it should develop, would be carried out by the support of collective financing. The crowd funding is transparent, simple, it is required a symmetrical exchange between the parts and responsibility for it making possible. Also we believe that it promotes the excellence: the creators have to offer the best version of themselves to catch the interest of the people. It is highly efficient: 100 % of the liberated resources goes to the creation, and it protects the creative freedom: the creator takes the control of the process of creation, without interferences of the financiers in his decisions. It is a process of co partnership, since the creator not only takes the economic resource but also the breath of his hearing. The crowd funding is a powerful mechanism that puts in value the social intelligence of a community.
