About the proyect
I want an author's book rather than an educational one, although it does include some texts in which I explain the ideas that move me, that help me to find inspiration when I´m in the middle of a meadow of flowers or inside a forest, as well as the way I face my trips to the countryside to take photographs.
I try to share my photographic evolution, from a more documentary or naturalistic idea, which is what I have always done, towards a more personal type of photography, with a strong influence of the pictorial trends of the late 19th and early 20th century.
I try to keep the emotions, the sensations of what I see, and I want to do it in a pictorial way, even reaching abstraction.
Colour, without neglecting composition, is the soul of my way of understanding photography; and I think there is a good example of it in this book. I always think that colour is light and that is the assumption on which I move in the field.
The book is structured in series. When I take a photograph that I like, that motivates me, I don't want to leave it alone. I develop a series around that idea.
Perhaps as a novelty, because it is so rare, the book starts with four forewords written by my great friends: Javier Peña Sanz, Javier Lafuente, Lydia Grávalos Parra and José Benito Ruiz.
In the development of this book I have had the invaluable help of:
Amaia Puras and Javier Gil, in the design and layout.
Aurelio Gil de la Casa, as proof-reader and translator of the English version.
Lydia Grávalos Parra, with her printing company Grávalos Aplicaciones Gráficas and her publishing house OTRO MATIZ.

About the author
Photography has always been for me a complement to travel, undoubtedly my great passion.
At a certain moment, that passion also moved to photography and the two began to go hand in hand.
On the other hand, painting has always attracted me enormously. I have a special predilection for the pictorial movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially the paintings of Paul Cézanne, with their clean, balanced colouring, and Pierre Bonnard, with his harmoniously applied colours within loosely defined forms.
I like to keep my photography simple and uncomplicated, to approach nature as naturally as possible.
My photography is based on composition, light and colour.
I always want to highlight colour, to fill the frame with light through colour. It is a constant in my photography to confuse colour with light, but I am always convinced that colour is the light of photography.
I want to suggest more than to show, not to explain many things, even reaching abstraction, so that the spectator uses his imagination and doesn't just say: How beautiful!
When I take photographs, I try not to see reality as it is, I love to hide it and, in any case, I try to simplify what I have in front of me to reduce it to dots, lines, ill-defined shapes and patches of light and colour.
Georgia O'Keeffe used to say: That which moves us, that which attracts our attention in a landscape, is reduced to lines, spots and colours.
To achieve all this I rely on: blurring, camera movements and multiple exposures.
When I take photographs I don't pay much attention to technique or composition. It must be something you have there and it comes out unconsciously, without realising it.
At that moment I focus on creating the photography.
When you know the technique and identify the important elements that exist in the natural space you want to photograph, you can focus on the emotional.
Photography should be a balance between technique, composition and emotion.
A photography with few elements, where the idea goes to the essential, appeals more to me.
We have to seek, to expand our limits, which will be where our capacity to imagine reaches.
