About Mal de Ojo
Mal de Ojo is a collaborative photographic project that investigates and aims to recover our peripheral vision of today's world by focusing on what has been silenced by any power elite: the social struggle.
In August 2019, we have created an open call for photographers to send us their projects that narrate the social and political context of their community.
We have received dozens of projects and have selected 23 photographers to participate. Among them: Ames Wildman (UK), Ivimaiga Bugrimenko (BR), Elsa Fosca (ES), Lee Kay Chung (HK), José Miguel Cordero Carvacho (CL) and many more.
For 2 years, Mal de Ojo’s collective was elaborating political essays that grouped the photographs received thematically with the intention of relating them to events of the same type in different parts of the world.
We have generated a relational map of protests that has allowed us to assess in more detail what political and social developmental moment we are, to compare it with other moments in history, and to observe the path we are traveling more clearly through photography and what we call "street theory."
