ARE WE...

We are Rico (cook) and Irene (I do things with mud) and "We're rolled up (1) and we love to do it in the kitchen."

(1) In Spanish, "Estar enrollado" with someone means being lovers. Also, means "we being rolled".

Literally, we are a couple and we like to do it in the kitchen: our culinary menus (and other personal matters ;).

We make gastronomic ceramics: plates, trays, bowls, cups ... designed to serve food!

EVERYTHING STARTED...

It all started with a gastronomic project where, from time to time, we presented online menus for people came home to taste them. We opened the doors of our house in Barcelona, Berlin, London, Seville... At a table, people from different countries sat. Between them there was no other link than the passion to travel, meet people and gastronomy.

Rico, a professional chef with experience in Michelin-starred restaurants, devised the recipes and proposed to me how he would like the dishes where the food was served.

At that time, I designed and created the dishes with ceramics, following the instructions he had previously given me: a very long plate, a plate with a very wide wing, a monochrome bowl...

We served tasting menus of 5 different dishes. Each dish we served at the table was unique, each diner had a different dish and at each tasting, we exchanged the dish for one they had not seen. It was fun to see how the attendees discussed about which dish was prettier than the other and very satisfying to hear the double emotion: "What a beautiful dish, what such a good dish!". All the pottery we served was for sale.

We call ourselves "Estamos enrollados" ("we being rolled") because initially we only served rolled dishes: maquis, cannelloni, pitas, spring rolls, Vietnamese rolls... But little by little, beyond the rolls, we introduced the preliminaries (starters, creams...), sins (recipes with meat and fish) and happy endings (desserts).

MEDIA...

Time Out Barcelona, Plate Selector, Canal Sur, La Vanguardia and Madamme Le Figaro talked about us:

CURRENTLY...

We left Seville three years ago and moved to Girona. We have not opened our doors, but we have continued to work with the gastronomic ceramics project www.instagram.com/ceramica.banyoles.salt and designing recipes for a magazine of the Pla de l'Estany with local products, bought in the region.

For now, we design ceramics in different pottery workshops and schools that we have known since we have lived here. But we would like to have our own workshop.

THE PROJECT...

This summer we found a small studio (with a little kitchen!) Of only 20 m2, but it has a huge terrace overlooking the sea, where we would love it to be ours to spend time creating new recipes and, above all, to have a space where we can make our gastronomic ceramics. And who knows, maybe organize another gastronomic menu on the terrace from time to time!

If you look at our ceramics, most of them have organic, almost maritime shapes, so the place would be ideal to be able to inspire us! It would be great if you could help us have our own workshop!

** We want to create pieces with the smell of sea and salt flavor thanks to you!**

TIMING...

If we succeed, we could get the study by the end of September.

Then, we would need a lot of time to design your pieces, as ceramics is a slow craft and needs time:

  • for the creation of the piece (between two and seven days)

  • a good drying (between three and five days)

  • send the pieces to the oven (between one and seven days)

  • bake and cool the piece (one day)

  • (if necessary) prepare the glaze and glaze the piece (between one and three days)

  • dry (one day)

  • bake and cool (one day).

Not many pieces fit in the oven, as care must be taken that they do not touch each other and that the enamel is not damaged.

So if we have patience and you give me the opportunity to make unique and well-crafted pieces, I need until the end of the year, part of the next, to finish the reward.
