«Some secret organization has hacked my mind and made me turn into my father» —Leonardo García.
The emerging theatre company Noche de Camaleones invites you to support the creation of a daring and entertaining theatre experience.
Join us for an adventure into a surreal yet strangely familiar world.
WHAT IS THE PLAY ABOUT?
Somebody has hacked Leonardo's computer. And also his mind.
As a consequence, Leonardo has to set off on a journey into the turbulent past of his family in which he will have to become (literally) his father: the owner of the famous Spanish ham brand: El Terrateniente - The Landowner.
Leonardo hasn't spoken to him for eight years.
Sueños de Rupert (Rupert's Dreams) is a theatrical, musical and immersive experience that tells the story of a broken family. It's a tale about the contradictions of the world we're living in told from the perspective of a confused millennial; a world in which the feminism mixes with conspiracy theories, ecology with suicide and family traumas with memes and cartoons.
WHAT AM I SUPPORTING?
By supporting this campaign you make possible the creation of Sueños de Rupert (Rupert's Dreams) - an experiential theatre play that, if everything works out, will premiere in December 2021 at sala exlímite in Madrid, Spain, with plans to tour in Europe in 2022.
Here you can see what we will do with the crowdfunded money depending on the goal we achieve:
4.000€ THE ESSENTIAL DEAL. The production. Hiring of the rehearsal space, the costumes, the props, the lighting equipment, the sound equipment a flight ticket for Aiden Bromley, our lighting designer from the United Kingdom.
5.500€ THE FAIR DEAL. Team members' salaries: the costume designer, the set designer, the musician, the sound technician, the lighting designer.
7.000€ THE IDEAL DEAL. The creators' salaries.
We're on the threshold of major political and social changes: the increasing polarization destabilizes societies all around the world, the radicalization of ideological extremisms put democracy in danger, there is less trust in science and media and more in conspiracy theories.
Rupert's Dreams addresses all these concerns in a theatrical experience in which both the protagonist and the viewer will try to put together the pieces of a family torn to shreds.
THEATRE IN DANGER
You know the story: theatre is in danger. Like many other fields, the pandemic has sown destruction in the world of performing arts. By supporting initiatives as this one, you help theatre makers keep their faith in the only art, according to Arthur Miller, in which «the humanity faces itself».
NEW GENERATION OF THEATRE MAKERS
By participating in this project you support a new generation of theatre makers. You help a new perspective to be seen, you help a new voice to be heard.
IT WILL ONLY WORK OUT WITH YOU ON BOARD
With your help we can create a unique theatrical event: a multi-sensory journey in which the viewer will be able to get in touch with Leonardo's story through different formats: a theatre play, a concert, a catering and an art installation.
