Hello! We are the Espai POE(tic), a cultural association created in 2017 in the Gràcia neighbourhood of Barcelona. Our name is a tribute to Edgar Allan Poe and we are dedicated to promoting interconnectivity between artists and local culture.
We are a creative community, an open, diverse, interactive and reactive hub. Our space is therefore filled with poetic, literary and theatrical events, workshops and much more. We have activities and shows every day of the week, because we enjoy what we do.
At present we are one of the most established poetry venues in Barcelona and also one of the few with such an extensive program. Over the years our name has become known among poets from the rest of Spain who occasionally drop by our stage. We have welcomed poets and authors from Barcelona such as Dani Orviz, Salva Soler, Raúl Parra, Al Bareto, Joan Camps, Iñaki C.Nazabal, Ainara García, Elisa Lein, Carrie Punto, Olza Olzeta, Pablowski, Crisal Rodríguez, Domenikus, Julián Sanchez Caramazana, Andrés Dos Leyes, Marta B, Arizonica, Danilo Facelli, Arjan Alvarez, Ale Oseguera, Mad Pirvan, Erika Rubio, Sophie Glú, Laura Freijó, Mabel Escribano, Quin Valiente and Eli Sanz among others, and poets from the rest of Spain including Suso Sudón, Pablo Benavente, Pablo López, Daniel Gómez, Sergio Escribano, Carlos Salem and Leo Zelad.
Our viability as a project is currently in serious danger due to a notification of requirements stipulated by Barcelona City Council that threaten our imminent closure. This puts all our dreams and work on a tightrope. After struggling to exist and share local culture with minimal support, our government have turned their backs on small associations and emerging artists who are being left without venues.
The City Council has given us a month to meet its requirements, so we cannot waste a minute. We have to raise €20,000 to adapt the venue to conform with another type of license, so that it is not the politicians who write our ending. We need your collaboration to achieve this. Poetix, onwards!
About the rewards
We cannot allow the closure of this venue. Whether you are a regular or you just want to help us out, whether you are from Barcelona or from anywhere else, we are offering rewards to suit all tastes and pockets. You can review them here on the right. Remember, your contribution will only be effective if the campaign reaches its goal. In other words, if we do not reach €15,000, your money will stay where it is.
