By celebrating 50 years in the music career, our project is, on the one hand, to make a contribution to the Basque music and on the other, to help economically the entity SENB - National Union of Women of Sahara.
WHO WE ARE
Just think! In 1968 in the town of Zestoa (Gipuzkoa), we found the music group LEOK´K.
Five young men got together wanting to create and work in a completely different style of music to that which they were surrounded by. Apart from being the first rock music group in our town, we were one of the first groups to sing that style of music in Euskara (Basque).
The initial members of LEOK´K were Alejandro Kortadi, Jauanantonio Kortaki, Sebastian Etxeberria, Mitxel Orbegozo and Gotzon Lizaso. Luis LLavori joined the group later. In 1978 Alejandro Kortadi died in an unfortunate car accident and Koldo Igual took his place in the year 2006.
Then in 2013 Sebastian Etxeberria passed away as a result of a serious illness and his place in the group as drummer, was filled by David Gorospe. Round that time, Jesus Aranberri also joined the group as pianist.
Wanting to help the Saharan people, mainly the women of Sahara, we started a project called “Saemel”. We wanted to give them our solidarity and support. In order to help them with a small economical support and also wanting to accompany them in their claim for their right to decide their future, we recorded two CDs, “Saemel” (2006) and “Une bat…” (2010). So, with the wish to continue with this our project and also wishing to celebrate LEOK´K´s 50th anniversary, we are at present recording our new CD “Infinituari segika”.
To enable the realization of any project, the implication of people is essencial, as has been in our case. In the recording of the CDs and the development of this our project we have and are being helped by: Alfonso Guilló, Dave Gorospe, Joanes Ederra, Oihan Lizaso, Iñigo Llavori and Eñaut Gaztañaga.
HOW WILL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS BE USED
We will use your economical contributions to pay off all the recording and edition costs of this our third CD “Infinituari segika” and also its announcement. In that way, not only will we celebrate our half century of our music career, but also, it will enable us to give our economical support to SENB- the National Union of Women of Sahara with the benefits obtained from the sale of these our CDs and also benefits obtained from the different concerts we will be giving.
We hope to present our demand material and our new CD “Infinituari segika” on the 1st September 2018 in the town of Zestoa (Gipuzkoa).
Due to this, we will be sending the lots sold during the month of September.
