SYNOPSIS
8mm of life is the story of Gabriel Mayans, a film buff who bears his passion to each corner of the town of Campos, Mallorca. He is 81 years old and since 1975, has shot over 80 films, all of them in Super 8 mm and Catalan.
But it's not only the story of a dreamer, but of a real author and craftsman. At 84 years, Mayans is responsible for developing each of the stages of film production. Adapting the novels of his friends, including Baltasar Porcel or Damiá Huget, making script able to be taken to a shooting.
Not only directs but also light, photography, dresses actors even build sets. Mayans wheel yards of negative going riding at home, giving meaning and shape to each of the images. Finally, the story comes alive with the voices of enthusiastic actors together again (for dubbing) to commands of this peculiar director.
Mayans is the spitting image of the craftsman moved by a love that knows no age or industry, to whom the cinema gives life. Film is made with hands and heart.
OBJECTIVE
*8mm of life *
The aim of the project is an audiovisual documentary about the filming of Mayans' latest movie. This is translating the stories and dreams that come about Gabriel Mayans' movies, adopting a classic documentary treatment.
Today, we are in the process of filming the documentary, since the filming of Mayans has already begun. We have part of recorded material, but we need funding to continue the rest of the process of filming, editing and distribution of the documentary.
DATES
The filming will take place until later this summer, with dates marked in parallel with the development of film Mayans and we have to return to Mallorca and rent equipment, overhead cover food, travel, etc.
The total project ending is planned for early 2013.

Pues la verdad es que hemos empezado el año con el proyecto entre las manos.
A día de hoy, está todo el material grabado. Rodamos a lo largo del verano pasado y hemos estado preparando la fase de montaje, a la que comenzamos a enfrentarnos justo ahora. Parece que va cogiendo forma, por lo que esperamos estrenar esta primavera.
