About the project

Ymir is a visual dance fashion film with an impressive atmosphere that aims to push the plastic expression of the image to the edge. We want to create an unique audiovisual experience supported by a brilliant but disturbing imaginary where everything is accepted: dance, dark ancestral beings, forest spirits, chases through the woods, neon light triangles etc.
The visual piece where are introducing works as a sample of Aphorzimex’ show Ymir. It aims to capture the essence of the original show but with some kind of independent nature.

The main objective of our film is to capture the Art and Technique of the dancers, their corporal expression and the emotions they express with every movement. We want to show the physicality of the internal fight of our protagonist with an almost-touchable and sensitive image.
Thus, we envisage this as a very visual and aesthetic oeuvre with a strong artistic approach and a powerful, disturbing atmosphere.
We will work on an atmospheric mood, aiming the construction of an oppressive setting where every element will add layers to the visual and perturbing universe of our film.
This film will be premiered by Nowness, a seal of audiovisual and artistic quality.
Ymir: the story
"A Boy walks on a snowy desert road, drags a black bag that leaves a trail of blood on his way. He walks mechanically with an evaded attitude and pitch black eyes... As if he were possessed by something."

In Nordic mythology, YMIR is the first giant, the primordial being of whose dismembered ice body emerged the world. It’s the essence of everything that exists, the supreme being who controls everything.
Ymir opens with a Boy walking on a snowy desert road, dragging a black bag that leaves a trail of blood on his way. He walks mechanically with an evaded attitude and pitch black eyes... As if he were possessed by something.
Suddenly, a fox crosses the road and looks at him. The Boy regains consciousness, but his fight is not over. The Dark Being that possessed him has split off from him and is willing to fight and regain control.
Ymir tells us about a man in struggle with that part that drags him to his wildest, primitive, visceral side. His fight against a disease that extends through his veins, colonizing his insides.
Who we are

Aphorzimex is a duo inside Get Bak (www.getbakcia.com). They are a mini-company formed by dancers Ugo Boulard (@bboyugo_pmd) and Albert Morancho (@p__mora_pmd) that combines contemporary and experimental dance with hip-hop and bboying. Supported by Nil Fruitos (@djbenil_pmd, who coordinates the show and the musical design, they create their own universes where dancing becomes a way of feeling.

Aum Studio is the production company behind the film. It's a film collective formed by Frank Lucas (@frvnk_skyzxx), Gerard Rodríguez (@gerardrodriguez) and Pol Camprubí (@camprubi.arturpol) specialised in the creation of visual and atmospheric films.
What are your contributions for
This project is entirely financed by the dance duo, but we need some extra help to get the visual result we aspire to.
For the look we are imaging, there are four essential elements:
The camera: a professional camera and special optics will provide the cinematic and distintive look we need for this film.
The location: we are looking for the perfect location, a snowy and solitary place that will provide us with the stifling lonely atmosphere we want.

- The monster: the wild and primitive side of our protagonist is represented by a pitch black monster.
This monster is played by one of the dancers who will need full body-painting. If we want a professional result, we will need to invest an important part of our budget.

- The Spirit of the forest: we need a trained fox, and it's quite expensive.

Calendar
The story is set in a snowy forest, that's why the ideal dates to shoot our film are in February to be sure that there is enough snow. Thus, we will travel to the Pyrenees during the months of December and January to find the perfect spot.
The postproduction will take an approximate of one month and a half, we aim to finish the short film by April 2018.
However, we don't need to wait until we finish the film to deliver the rewards, as many of them are dancing courses or tickets for shows. We expect to deliver this rewards by March, approximately.

About the rewards
This short film is for the people as passionate by dancing and beauty as we are. That's why many of our rewards are initiation courses or live shows. For these rewards, we will offer different options so you can choose the best date for you. Please, keep in mind that we usually perform in Barcelona and surroundings!
For the private shows or courses, we will contact you to arrange a date and place! :) (Note: transportation expenses are not included!)
Finally, for the smaller rewards, if you can't afford one of the bigger donations, we will reward you with a gif from our personal archive, curated by years of cybernetic silliness.
