We want to publish a new Gea-graphy drawn through the mind and the hands of women. We want to spread women's contributions in all fields of knowledge in the last 40 years and contribute to the blossoming of Gea. Gea's skin: A representation of the Earth through women's thought. The book we offer you offers a view of Gea through the though of women in the south and the north hemispheres.
I have wanted to spend some time of my life to relate the feelings, thoughts and actions women of my time have experienced, who have birthed the renaissance of the paradigm of life. I have written this book with the aim of contributing with my humble and laborious work to the renaissance of the women’s culture that has taken place all over the world with tremendous strength in the last forty years. Joining is the typical female method of work opposite to which the male scientist method, based on dissection, analysis and violence, emerged. To join the feminine mosaic I’m offering you in this book has been a peaceful, daily and persevering task, not lacking of sense, power and vision. The vision is mine, of course, and my world’s. As a geographer I have re-united a female world with the words and works that have most resounded in me and with the ones I have best known how to string together and to show in a particular and a general way. With this holistic aim I have related in each chapter issues which are studied separately in philosophy, science, sociology, economics, politics, psychology, biology and I have focussed each of these disciplines in a specific chapter.
Many are the women who have shown up in the last four decades. It would be difficult to choose fifteen names among the hundreds of them which have stood out because of their fundamental contributions to knowledge in the last forty years, period of exceptional fertility in contrast with the exceptional erosion produced in nature in the same period. I have chosen about seventy women to illustrate in a concrete way the extraordinary dimension of the importance women’s works have had in the innovations produced in all fields of knowledge in this time. It has been just my longing to know new perspectives and new ways of working and writing what has led me to know the women I’m introducing here, some of them in a personal, deep way.
I decided to write Gea's skin with the aim of contributing with my humble and laborious work to the renaissance of the women’s culture that has taken place all over the world with tremendous strength in the last forty years. I wanted to share what I had learn with other women and men, not only to discover what had been hidden to us at school and at university but with the aim of contributing to light a way to heal mother earth: us, all animal and plants on Gea's skin. About rewards
