ToiletPlanet. A journey through the toilets of the world

If you travel the world, you have probably noticed that there are many kinds of toilets, although most people are limited to split into good and bad. The universe of the toilet is much more rich and complex, but we have given back (literally) for centuries. Much intrepid adventurer, much National Geographic, but this issue not a word. However, it is the first thing we miss when we leave home. This is the point of ToiletPlanet: a book containing the most amazing toilets in the world to give the subject the recognition it deserves.

In the book we'll find all kinds of toilets. From simplest holes in the ground to Japanese futuristic monsters. From urinals with video-game you do not want to leave, to nasty places where you do not would to enter. From the horrible plastic cubicles, to stunning works of modernist art. Strange things and even more strange things....

The basic model consists of a hole that takes waste elsewhere. Point. From here, it depends on many different factors. We may find a marvel of human creativity ** or a hellish nightmare** . It can be more or less sophisticated, more or less expensive, the forms and packaging can change, but essentially, the same hole from 3,000 years ago still remains.

The toilet is not only a universal basic need, it is also a manifestation of *human culture and creativity . * Through the toilet we can get a good idea of the values and principles that govern a society, their habits and ways of thinking.

ToiletPlanet is, in short, ** a snapshot of state of the world. **

If we look closely the toilets of China or Norway, Switzerland or Japan, we can draw some interesting conclusions. So it seems to me, and i hope they also seem interesting to you.

THE MAKING OF TOILETPLANET

The project started as a fun, but before long, the collection began to take shape, and it became clear that we had to gather all this material into a book. To do this, I decided to take a trip round the world with the sole purpose of seeking the most spectacular toilets, and it was on that trip where most of the material for the book was obtained.

Then, I realized that a lot of people do photos of toilets when traveling, many of the absolutely great, worthwhile to incorporate the project. The response from people has been wonderful. So much so that the quantity and quality of the resulting material has caused a serious problem in deciding how to fit in 250 pages.
