In Sigma Project we are currently producing our first CD, which includes works for saxophone quartet, composed in the past three years and dedicated to us, by some of the most important Spanish composers nowadays: Jesús Torres (National Music Award 2012), José Manuel López López (National Music Award 2000), Juan José Eslava, Ramon Lazkano, Félix Ibarrondo and Germán Alonso.
With an authoritative interpretation, honest, bold and fresh, we intend to document this new, emerging and rich musical heritage, contributing our bit in the dissemination of our musical culture and spreading this new music for saxophone of the 21st century.
BUT… WHO IS SIGMA PROJECT?
October 2007: under the name SIGMA PROJECT, four renowned saxophone soloists, firmly committed to musical creation –Andrés Gomis, Josetxo Silguero, Ángel Soria, Miguel Romero–, decided to revolutionize the landscape of Spanish chamber music… and enjoying themselves doing so. Their commitment to renew not only the saxophone repertoire –with particular interest in symphonic works– but also the space and the staging of concerts, has aroused the interest of many composers, whose close collaboration with SIGMA PROJECT, have produced many premieres. In 2013, they celebrate their 5th anniversary, still emphasizing the thinking, study and research of sound, constantly seeking and implementing new technologies, and without ever despise a good conversation until dawn...
THESE ARE SOME COMENTS ABOUT SIGMA PROJECT
“…I have had the opportunity to estimate directly the extraordinary quality of this quartet as such, a result of a serious, meticulous, constant and deep work that shows model interpretations, technically and expressively, always pledged to the composer. For me it has been a pleasure to be able to collaborate with them, and I hope it goes on…
José Ramón Encinar. Madrid, October 12th, 2011
“"If I had to summarize in two words the personality of the saxophone quartet SIGMA PROJECT, I would not hesitate: originality and perfection. [...] It is a pleasure, a joy to share music with them: they communicate it, give it life." Luis de Pablo (Madrid, December 2008)
WHY THIS CAMPAIGN?
Because we need your complicity to end the project!
To date, we have already recorded the audio in different recording studios: (San Sebastian, Vitoria, Hondarribia), including post-production and hiring of technical specialized staff.
To accomplish this process, we have created our own record label, SIGMA RECORDS. Did anybody think records are from the past? Or are we out of our minds…?
Now, already in the middle of the mastering and editing process, and to the cry of cultural resistance!!, we ask you for your help to fund the costs of the final launch of the CD. We don´t count on public funds nor any resources beyond our effort and enthusiasm, which we would love to share with you.
We will allocate the raised Money to cover the final costs of mastering (at El Canton de la Soleddad Records) and laying out (creatta.net), to whom we deeply thank for their complicity and know-how.
We would love to ask for the help to all of you who love culture, musical experimentation, sound research and avant-garde. We offer you our work and our passion for music.
Would you help us?
HOW AND WHEN CAN YOU HELP US?
From now on, we have 40 days to collect your contributions. It is very important that you spread the word about this initiative, so that we can get to the final goal. If we don´t reach it, this campaign would be cancel and the project would not even get the funds of those who already donated. The money will be charged when the campaign is finished, and only if it ends successfully.
