WHERE/WHEN:

You will find us at the Sa Talaia venue in the Mallorcan village of Santanyí. The S'Illo Festival, like our village of Santanyí, is a familiar, charismatic and welcoming place. At the S'Illo Festival we host proposals from theatre companies of many nationalities, such as Spain, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Germany.

It is the leading independent festival, made possible only thanks to your financial support! It gives visibility to both finished performances and work-in-progress showcases from creative residencies.

This year we will welcome important theatre artists from Andalusia, such as Migue López Company and Ernesto Artillo Company, from Catalonia, Teatrema Company, and from Valencia, Maria Mora Company.

Thanks to your support, we can offer them transport, meals and acommodation at Can Timoner.

We also organise sociocultural events and award €500 to the winners of the audience prize "La Teta Premium" in exchange for carrying out an activity of their choice.

Thanks to the management of the Teatro Principal de Santanyí services by Tshock Cultura Emocional, we are able to present part of the programme at the theatre with box office ticketing and voluntary management, independently. This year we will present the performance "Un bostezo melancólico de la tierra" by Migue López (27 August, Seville) and the performance "Un beso blanco" by Ernesto Artillo and dancer Martí Corbera (29 August, Málaga).

"Un bostezo melancólico de la tierra" is a stage research project that explores the cave as a symbol of the matriarchal deity, a space of transition between the visible and the invisible, where the sacred and the poetic meet. The piece articulates a dialogue between the performer - fool - madman - guru - and the echoes of ancient poets, who emerge as children - ghosts of the cave, connecting past and present, memory and ritual.

"Un beso blanco" is a performance, dance and theatre piece created by the multidisciplinary artist Ernesto Artillo and the flamenco dancer Martí Corbera.

The work uses the figure of a fallen dove that makes a living dancing in the street - as a poetic fable about freedom, innocence and the contrasts between what is said and the mundane. With a strong visual and provocative charge, the performance explores the dualities of body and soul through an expression that is far removed from traditional flamenco.

Last year, the café theatre "Sala Ànima" was incorporated at Pere II,2 , with a capacity of 200 people, in the Pere Garau neighbourhood. A neighbourhood where there is no theatre, creation space or exhibition venue of any kind.

It is also worth highlighting that on 5 September 2026 at 8:30 p.m at Sala Ànima, the performance "A la fi, partim! " by Joan Lluís Terrassa and Marc Escoda will take place.

"A la fi, partim! " is a physical theatre and theatre duet conceived for intimate spaces. The piece follows two characters through one more day of their routine and existential drama, inspired by Samuel Beckett's Endgame.

Through the simplicity of living one more day, these two beings, confined to the same space, find themselves invaded by and increasingly irrational and absurd language. Faced with the impossibility of finding answers in words, it is the body that takes centre stage: movement becomes reaction, resistance and another way of inhabiting existence.

And finally to complete the presentation of the national and international companies, the following performances will take place during the last week of the S'Illo Festival at the Teatro Principal de Santanyí and Sa Talaia:

-"El ring de la escritura", 2 and 3 September 2026 at 8:30 p.m at the Teatro Principal de Santanyí, by the Colombian company Derreojo Teatro.

Synopsis:

"El ring de la escritura" is an interdisciplinary performance in which theatre, music, audiovisuals and artificial intelligence coexist. It uses writing as its driving force, generating a constant struggle between time and creation.

Three playwrights write in real time bases on phrases and prompts given by the attending audience. A musician (pianist) not only sets the atmosphere of the performance, but also directly intervenes in the creation: they are challenged so that, using triggers provided by the spectators, they write instant notes on their hands, thus interpreting unique pieces. A singer also interacts with the world of automatic creation. A cameraman moves around the stage, often showing what the audience cannot observe from their seats. An artificial intelligence operator, as the performance progresses, projects images related to the prompts given by the audience.

-"On Display", on September 4, 2026 at 8:30 p.m at Sa Talaia, by Maria Mora and Katja Butkovic.

Synopsis:

"On Display" is a dance theatre piece that portrays the complex role of being a dancer from a diachronic perspective. Two female bodies explore different contexts in which the dancer's body is present. They establish a game between expectations and lived realities, oscillating between the literal and the abstract. Together they reclaim, comment on and criticize how dancers are framed, approached and consumed.

-"M'he ficat en un jardí", on September 6, 2026 at 8:30 p.m at Sa Talaia, by the company Teatrema.

Synopsis:

The place is open, there is no stage. To your surprise, instead of observing, in this case, you will be the one being observed. You have gotten yourself into a garden.

Each individual will become aware of their individual weight within the human community. We treat the spectators as a sample of all Humanity and turn them into stadistics. We observe their surface through a microscope: the skin, the clothes, the hair... a universe to be discovered is revealed to us, a forest of possibilities. Little by little we go deeper: changing the point of view allows us to look inside the bodies, metaphorically, the place where they keep ideas.

Just like a garden, these ideas are planted, watered, allowed to grow or uprooted.

By observing bodies cultivated by ideas, we will understand a little more that which makes us suffer, that which makes us love, and everything that leaves a mark on us and on those around us.

The S'Illo Festival is due to our past, since it was born within an association that has disappeared today, without any kind of institutional support and with more than 1200 members.

In the Can Timoner association we learned to self-manage and to work with and for the members. Now we are also supported by the cultural association Club Intelsoul, which promoted different activities throughout the year together with us.

Thanks to this fact of authenticity and to the altruistic commitment of Tshock Cultura Emocional to maintain this reality through its 13 editions, the S'Illo Festival is an event of cultural resistance that allows society to feel that is has a free place to express itself without conditions, to show its concerns and share them, where theatre, experimental, research and independent work can be seen.

We are a committed and reinvidicative festival. During its sociocultural events, in each edition we like to contribute our grain of send to improve problems in our society.

This fact makes possible the interaction with great names in theatre such as Jodorowsky, Arrabal, Mamen Duch, Toni Gomila... who have understood how S'Illo makes sense by defending the love of art.

Whatever happens, whatever cultural policies may say, the patrons support us and know that this freedom of action is possible thanks to your contribution and participation.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

Through the presentation of Balearic, national and international spectators, and by holding free sociocultural events where theatrical activities are organized for all audiences. This year there will be a round table on What is European identity?

From here, we would like to thank our spectators, patrons and artists, and those of you who are reading about us for the first time. Also the groups and platforms, Teatro Matacandelas from Medellín (Colombia), the Latin Americans Theatre Corridor, and Festival Santiago Off, thank you all for your trust and your artistic support once again this year.

As is already tradition, the S'Illo Festival concludes with the presentation of the Illo Award and the Premium Teta. The Illo Awards are for Best Actor/Actress, Best Playwright, and Best Director. The Premium Teta is the award of the Best Performance of the Festival. Both awards are chosen by the audience. The winning performance receives €500 and a work of art created by Mallorcan artists in exchange for carrying out an activity during the following year's sociocultural events.

Soon you will be able to consult the full programme on Instagram, featuring the Balearic, national and international companies that will participate and on Sa Talaia's Facebook page, or by sending an email to [email protected].
