"Por capas" - Short Film

We are cooking our new short film Por capas 🧅 and we need a few ingredients so… maybe we could get your help?

Por Capas is a short film written by David Sánchez Olayo and directed by Juan Luis Viera García, a chaotic kitchen comedy that will leave you in tears… of laughter.

Our story is ready to go, but in order to jump from the paper to the screen… we need your help!

SYNOPSIS

Martín, a foodie snob with too much self love, finds himself with the biggest challenge of his cooking career: a date.

Suddenly, the daily task of slicing an onion becomes an herculean effort. Martín faces the onion and the obstacles it summons, while his date comes closer and his hopes disappear.

WHY POR CAPAS?

Por capas came to life with the idea of living up to the dreams of a bunch of college students: to create our very first short film, one that really represents our essence. After a couple of sketches with no money, we now want to take the leap and create a production that really reflects who we are.

We aspire to make a comedy that everyone can enjoy and capture on the screen the stress, blood, sweat and tears that make this story so unique.

We are an eight person group of students with a lot of passion, cinema lovers and art enthusiasts.

Illo K Productions is born after our friendship and the sincere belief in what we do. We want to be close to the public, delivering our best work by keeping true to ourselves.

So far we have reached 50% of our budget, thanks to different raffles that we have made. Preproduction is almost finished, but we still need the money to cover for:

• Wardrobe

• Renting technical equipment

• Catering

• Sets

• Distribution

November 10 to November 16 → Shooting

November - December → Postproduction

2026 → Release and …making it to national and international festivals?
