World Recipes Atlas: A gastronomic journey through the 196 countries of the world

Imagine traveling across the entire planet through its kitchens, without ever leaving your home. World Recipes Atlas brings together one recipe from every country in the world: from an Ethiopian stew to a New Zealand dessert, along the way discovering soups, breads, roasts, and breakfasts that have shaped entire cultures.

But this book is not your typical cookbook.

It is the first culinary atlas generated with artificial intelligence, under the critical and creative supervision of two humans, Enrico Porfido and Juan Gonzalez del Cerro.

A book that dares to provoke

The project was born from a simple yet unsettling question: What does artificial intelligence know about our gastronomy?

We asked the machine to tell us which is the most traditional dish of every country. From there, a process of dialogue, corrections, and discoveries began. We found surprising accuracies, amusing mistakes, and above all, a different perspective on the planet’s culinary diversity.

This book is an artistic and editorial experiment that reflects on how algorithms interpret cultural traditions and how we can transform that interpretation into something beautiful, critical, and enjoyable.

We haven’t tested all the recipes: compare them with those from your own family and discover what changes and what remains. You’ll find familiar flavors… and unexpected twists.

What will you find in the Atlas?

  • 196 recipes (one per country), with historical context, ingredients, step-by-step instructions in no more than 5 steps, and even a song to cook along to the rhythm of each culture — all included in a specially curated Spotify playlist.

  • 240 original AI-generated images, reinterpreting each dish and cuisine through a unique visual language: a mix between gastronomic documentation and photographic surrealism.

  • A structure that works as a culinary world map, guiding you across the planet from north to south and west to east.

  • A visual and conceptual essay on the relationship between artificial intelligence, tradition, and human creativity.

Delivery in time for Christmas

The Atlas already has its final layout completed, and we are fine-tuning the last details and corrections. This way, once the campaign ends, we can send it directly to print. Printed copies will be shipped at the beginning of December, so that they arrive in your hands before the holidays. That way, you can enjoy it at home, share it at the table, or gift it as a unique and special piece.

A journey that is just beginning

This atlas doesn’t aim to give closed answers. It aims to open questions: What happens when a cultural tradition is filtered through an algorithm? What biases appear in that translation? What do the machine’s mistakes reveal about our own knowledge of the world?

Join us on this journey. Help make this atlas possible and become part of this exploration of food, memory, and the future.

Bon appétit... and remember: ChatGPT and MidJourney can make mistakes. Consider double-checking important information.

Who we are

¡Hola! We are Enrico Porfido and Juan Gonzalez del Cerro, two cultural explorers who use artificial intelligence as a creative compass in this project. Between cuisine and technology, we transform data into stories, algorithms into images, and recipes into emotional maps of the world.

Juan is a photographer with a background in art direction, currently combining teaching with the development of personal projects. Enrico is a researcher in gastronomy and tourism, with a strong passion for food journalism. We decided to embark on this culinary journey without leaving our studio.

We are not chefs or programmers: we are two people eager to explore how AI represents the world… and to share that journey with you.

What we’ll use your contributions for

We want to be transparent: everything we raise will go directly to covering the production costs of this book at the highest possible quality.

  • Printing the Atlas with the greatest care to detail (paper, binding, photographic quality).

  • Additional rewards such as high-quality printed illustrations.

  • Safe and fast shipping, to ensure it arrives in time for Christmas.

  • A small portion will cover management fees.

  • And if anything is left over, we’ll treat ourselves to a special dinner to celebrate this incredible journey!

Our goal is simple: that every backer receives a unique piece, made with care and dedication, ready to open, browse, cook from… and reflect on.

Why Verkami?

Because we want this book to exist in a special edition, crafted with the utmost care, with print quality that does justice to the visual power of the recipes and the beauty of this collective journey.

The support from this campaign will make possible the production of the book, its limited-edition printing, and its distribution to everyone who wants to be part of this gastronomic and technological exploration.
