Through a short film we want to explain the creation of an Ecovillage that we are currently developing in the Biert Valley (Girona)
We dream that people can understand this project and participate in its dissemination all over the world in order to help open our eyes to another reality.
WHAT IS AN ECOVILLAGE?
An Ecovillage is an intentional community, the goal of which is to be sustainable socially, environmentally and economically.
An Ecovillage is a settlement consisting of groups of people who choose to live in community in a different way. Ecovillages are the models (some sponsored by organizations such as UNESCO) that want to prove we can live away from mass consumption and waste, according to the principles of ecology and environmental protection.
The bases of ecovillages are sustainability and human development, although there may be many aspects that differentiate them.
In our Ecovillage, which we have called KanAwen, the main elements are human development and spirituality.
WHAT IS KanAwen?
KanAwen is the name of our Ecovillage, a project of hope, a harmonious life, an intentional community. We are located 15 km from Girona, near Banyoles, in the Biert Valley.
We are united in the need for a radical change, to promote a more conscious way of life, in touch with nature, living socially in community, economically and environmentally sustainable, for the purpose of spiritual growth, both personal and collective, building participatory and dynamic relationships of mutual support and collaboration.
Currently we are registered as a nonprofit association, and we are governed by approved statutes. We are also in the process of constituting the KanAwen Foundation.
We have begun the process to purchase the first piece of land; we expect to complete this purchase by the end of February 2013.
