Nido is a short film that explores the adoption process in all its emotional complexity, leading to a possible healing.
It will portray Niko's inner journey the night before leaving the orphanage. To achieve this, all departments will work to express this psychological process in images.
Locations
The short film is set in a Russian orphanage. Based on a settlement house, the space will be adapted to achieve a convincing Soviet aesthetic and bring the film as close as possible to the original references.
Continuing with this theme, the exteriors of the fantasies will be filmed in pine forests in the Pyrenees.

Monsters
The monsters will be designed by combining elements of creatures from Russian fairy tales and film references Niko may have seen at the orphanage. They will be created primarily using practical effects, enhanced by VFX.

Costume
Lisa's costume will be custom-designed to give her the aura of a fairytale princess. Like the monsters, the design will be based on Niko's imagination, combining elements of Soviet clothing like the kokoshnik with items he remembers from home, like the white knitted tablecloth.
Visual proposal
The short film's visual proposal relies heavily on a dreamlike and fantastical component. The intention is for the photography not only to accompany but also to enhance this atmosphere, generating a soft, ethereal, and stylized image. To achieve this, a combination of lenses and filters will be essential.

Who we are
We are a group of film students who have come together to launch this project outside of the academic framework.
The project was born a year and a half ago and was in the script and development phase until the summer of 2024, when the department heads joined.
We are currently a team of 19 people fully involved in pre-production and eager to shoot the short film.
What we will use your contributions for
It is a very ambitious short film, especially given the setting, the fantasy sequences (costumes and monsters), and the logistics of filming.
Below you can see the main requirements for the short film.

Scheduled timeline
The short film will be shot in the first week of September 2025, and post-production is expected to be completed by February 2026.
All rewards will be accessible once the project is completed.
The Rewards
In addition to the virtual rewards, starting in the "The Monster" category, you will receive a handmade postcard with a personalized dedication from the team.
The drawings will be made with watercolors, and the images will evoke the short film's imagery. The scenes will be portrayed from the perspective of a young child who still confuses reality with his imagination.
