About the project
FUGA is an immersive audiovisual installation that invites reflection on artistic creation and working conditions in today’s context. The piece reacts to the audience’s movement through sound and generative visuals, becoming a living organism in constant transformation. It’s not just a piece to observe, but an experience to inhabit.
With this project, we aim to bring to life a way of working based on dialogue, co-creation, and trial and error—moving away from the market-driven and individualistic logic that dominates the creative world. FUGA is both a piece and a process: a space for shared exploration where participation is essential to the creation of the work.
Audiovisual installation at the old Cement Factory of Xerallo
We propose an interactive audiovisual installation where sound and generative visuals react to the participants’ movement. The piece becomes a sensitive ecosystem, where constant interaction redefines both the experience and the final shape of the work.
This project stems from the challenges we face as creators in the cultural field, where creativity is often reduced to a marketing tool. In FUGA, we question the role that creative professions should play today. We reclaim their expressive and critical potential as tools for collective transformation.
As Mark Fisher points out in Capitalist Realism (2009), it seems there is “no alternative” to this system that commodifies culture. But we believe there is. And this installation is our attempt to start imagining one.
**Acknowledgements and rewards
**To thank you for your support, we’ve created a limited edition of the FUGA photobook—a piece that gathers images of the installation and the creative space. It’s a carefully crafted publication, with graphic design by Maria Perea, serving as a poetic and physical trace of the project.
Team
We are Maria Prous and Laura Gili, two creatives who met while studying audiovisual design. Over the last few years, we’ve been creating together from the margins, seeking spaces where we can express ourselves freely, without market constraints. That’s how FUGA was born—our first project as an independent audiovisual studio.
