Welcome to the fundraising campaign for our short film, "Érase una vez… un cuento que me he inventado" (Once Upon a Time… A Story I Made Up)! This project is born from the passion and dedication of a team committed to telling unique stories, and now we're taking the next step to bring our latest vision to life.
With your support, we can cover essential production costs, ensure fair compensation for our cast, and make sure that every technical detail matches the quality of the story we want to share. Join us on this journey and be a part of creating something truly special!
Synopsis
One pleasant summer afternoon, Lola and Olivia put on a small play in the garden inspired by the princess stories they've always read. With homemade costumes and the 'Magical Princess Manual' in hand, Lola sets out to help her friend Olivia become the princess she wants to be.
About the project
Olivia wants to free herself from the burdens of being a real child and seeks to do so with the help of her friend Lola. Together, in an improvised theatrical space, they explore the path to becoming part of the royalty with the help of the "Magical Princess Manual."
“Érase una vez... un cuento que me he inventado” is the story we would have told and in the way we would have told it when we were little. Reminiscing about the small shows we used to put on for our parents and guests whenever we gathered with family or friends, Lola and Olivia tell their story in the same way. With a light-hearted, casual, and accidentally comedic tone, and with a structure that aims to evoke classic fairy tales while seeking to innovate, this piece intends to clearly speak to the absurdity of concepts we've normalized in children's stories while also critiquing the system that keeps them alive.

Why This Project?
Girls' stories always revolve around princesses… and one can only imagine how unexciting it must actually be to be a princess in real life. As children, we dreamed of becoming world-renowned inventors, designing clothes for fashion runways, discovering dinosaur bones in the backyard, starting a band with no prior experience, or making a living through crafts.
Although later on, we encountered princesses with more diverse aspirations, the representation we grew up with was of characters whose primary goals were to marry a prince and be the most beautiful at the ball. That didn’t stop us from watching the movies and reading the stories over and over, of course. But as we grew older and looked back, we realized just how boring and ridiculous those stories were. They didn't reflect our dreams or our reality, and this project aims to change that.

How Can It Reach Others?
"Érase una vez... un cuento que me he inventado" is a short film aimed at audiences of all ages. With a message that many people can relate to and a narrative style that is both entertaining and original, the final piece aims to entertain both young children and adult viewers.
About us
We are Sinergia.log, a collective of young audiovisual creators driven by a passion for film and art. Each of us brings our vision and talent to the table, from writing and directing to editing and post-production, with the aim of creating unique pieces that embody our essence.
For this project, we have the script and direction of Paula Martínez Sáenz and María Sáez Rico. These two young creators frequently collaborate as co-writers on audiovisual projects, including their short films “Benigna y Segunda” and “Carmen.”
They also have separate projects in both writing and directing. Among Paula Martínez Sáenz's most notable works are the short film “Hierbabuena” and the commercial “Cuando vas al cine se nota,” which won second place at the I Festival Shot 2023 in the ‘Young Filmmakers’ category. On the other hand, María Sáez Rico has developed projects such as “Huevos Fritos” and “MORREO,” both finalists in the XX Edition of the AdN Festival, with the latter winning the award for Best Editing and Post-production, completed by herself.
For this project, they are collaborating for the first time as co-directors, continuing their development as creators while exploring new ways to tell stories.
How Will the Contributions Be Used?
This is an independent short film. "Érase una vez… un cuento que me he inventado" is our first project that, after gaining experience with no-budget short films, we have decided to undertake with a small budget. The funds will primarily be used for compensating the cast and covering technical resources and team expenses according to the needs:

Planned Timeline
The filming of the piece is scheduled for the end of September. Post-production will take place during October and November, with the short film expected to be finalized in December. It will be at this time that rewards will be sent out to all contributors.
