About our project

This is the first album by La Canya del Metall, a band of four members from Camp de Tarragona. La Canya emerged in 2014 as a love project for music that has grown alongside its members.

What we want to do is record for posterity all the effort, desires, illusions, disappointments, good and bad moments we have experienced in these ten years through a 12-song album that covers the Catalan collective imagination, stories of dragons, knights, the Middle East and the Far East. It’s more than 10 years of original songs that have included collaborations from voice actors like Joan Sanz, Marc Zanni, Marcos de la Calle, Ivan Canovas, Maite Supervía, Lluís Posada.

Singers like Emi Evans, Abril Torrades, Emma Clarke.

Artists like David Sangenis, Arnau Casanoves, Shyflebilis, Emejotae, etc.

Who are we?

La Canya del Metall is the most important rock and heavy metal band from Riudecanyes. Formed by four musicians from Camp de Tarragona. Since our creation in the summer of 2014, we have worked tirelessly to create our own musical style, performing original songs in Catalan.

Band Members

• Pere Joan Aragonès Calabuig (Riudecanyes): Lead singer of the band with over 12 years of experience in the music world. He has studied vocal techniques and music theory at the Rakel Voice-Craft Singing Academy and the Rambla Musics School of Music. He also has training in dubbing.

• Xavi Sobrino Solé (Tarragona): Lead guitarist, soloist, and metal chorister. With solid training in jazz and modern guitar performance at the Taller de Músics. He has experience in recording, live performances, and music education. He has participated in various bands and musical projects, including Músics de Carrer (Tribute to Txarango), Bulkak, Urock, and Bismark Quartet, among others.

• Gerard Ibars Escarré (Tarragona): Bassist with more than 10 years of experience, trained in various music schools. He has collaborated with different bands of varied styles such as Seguirem (Tribute to Obrint Pas), Bulkak, etc.

• Oriol Sech Morlanes (Tarragona): Drummer and versatile percussionist with experience in a wide range of musical genres. He has participated in symphonic bands, rock groups, funk, dixieland, and big bands. He has been a member of La Canya del Metall since 2022.

Our History and Trajectory

Since 2014, La Canya del Metall has been growing and gaining fans thanks to our passion for heavy metal and progressive rock music. Influenced by legends like Iron Maiden, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, X-Japan, Black Sabbath... we have created a unique sound with themes ranging from social criticism to artistic concepts of medieval and oriental inspiration.

We have performed numerous concerts throughout Camp de Tarragona and beyond, including major cities like Barcelona. Some of our notable events include performances at the Priorat Marathon, the Sala Garage in Salou, and festivals like Tastaverd and La Mussara.

Where will the money go?

In order to develop our project, we have decided to count on the help of our audience through crowdfunding the album through this platform. As you will see, our goal is to reach €6660. With the funds we raise, we will pay for part of the production process of our CD.

• Recording the album at WoodWave Studio with Xavi Barrero in Reus.

• Mixing by Joel Llauradó.

• Mastering of the album.

• Musical collaborations, graphic artists, actresses, and voice actors.

• Production of physical CDs for rewards.

• Production of exclusive merchandise for supporters, including t-shirts, mugs, caps, and other items.
