ABOUT US
La mia inquadratura (In My Framing) is a traveling and independent photography workshop which organizes short and long term free ludic and educational activities, focusing on visual and photographic disciplines, and involving children whose ages ranges from 6 to 13, directly on their own geographical and social life environment. In La Mia Inquadratura young kids become protagonists, narrators and genuine makers of their memory and their expression.
Starting in 2009 from Panciu, a small town in eastern Romania, where the first workshop have been arranged and carried out with some groups of children belonging to the local Rom community, we went back to Italy reproducing the same formula in our small Tuscan hometown (Pieve Santo Stefano – Arezzo), with local kids belonging to several social backgrounds.
During the last four years we experimented different formats, all focused on photography, and on self-portrait in particular, alternating different creative and playful approaches and teaching techniques in various contexts; as we passed trough – to make an example – the multi-ethnic communities of Noalle district in Marseille, we have worked and played with the child models at Pitti Bimbo Fashion Exhibition in Florence.
THE PROJECT
The next stage of La mia inquadratura would take place in Colombia starting at the end of January 2013; two different workshops will be held in two separated locations; the first one in Medellin (barrio Moravia), in collaboration with el_puente lab and the other one in El Retiro together with Corporación Rural Laboratorio del Espiritu; a metropolitan slum arisen on a dump and a rural setting will be both represented in parallel by the point of view of their younger inhabitants, of their subjectivity, of their daily life. Aims of the project are to help children involved to widen their perspective so to conceive new choices about their future and those of their places and communities, to expand their possibilities, to promote artistic expression and self-recognition in marginal environments.

El puente_lab is a platform for artistic and cultural production active in Medellín (Colombia), which has as its objective the development of cultural projects at the local level, made through an operational structure for international cooperation that builds bridges of communication with artists and experts from all over the world.
The projects developed by el puente_lab meet the specific needs of the social context where they take place, using artistic creativity as an engine for the activation of cultural dynamics that can stimulate, facilitate and accompany the processes of education, communication and urban and social transformation.
Laboratorio del Espíritu Corporación Rural is a non-profit organization that aims to promote local development through educational projects designed to recognize, promote and strengthen the rural world.

SESSIONS PLANNED: 20 (in 10 Medellin + in 10 El Retiro),
LOCATIONS: Medellin Antioquia department, l Retiro Antioquia department,
EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: 20 Compact digital cameras, 20 Compact analog cameras, photographic film and various materials for playful activities related to photography.
