WHAT'S INXA IMPRO QUARTET?
A quartet is a four people group, Impro’s a “shortname” of improvisation, and the Inxa is a name for the reed used in the Gralla (a popular oboe from Catalonia).
IIQ is a band bornt from Manu Sabate’s Final Degree Project (or Initial Life Project) a musician that converted one of his biggest faults (no being able to play something equal two times) to one of his best virtue: the impro!
AND WHAT DO YOU DO?
IIQ is a quartet that gives new ideas to folk music and their dance genres. So using the formal structures of these genres we create spaces for the impro: so the point is to keeping the groove of the songs make new and instantly melodies.
We also want to prove that gralla can play with other instruments, that their sound it’s unique and special.
THEN, YOU JAZZ?
Not at all, even the name of the CD is a wink to the famous sentence “All that Jazz” and we have used the traditional jazz musical structures: (build songs playing theme, impros and theme), the melodies and the language that we use to improvise comes from folk music. And we don’t swing so much!
WHO ARE YOU?
We have recorded the CD Arnau Obiols at the grums, Joan Tomàs at the doublebass, Marc Figuerola playing the guitar and Manu Sabaté playing gralla; and we have two special guests: Blai Casals playing 3-row accordion and Alba Mur singing.
AND WHY?
Because we have made a fresh, good and new product; in between to modernity and tradition; and we want to share it with de maximum people!
AND HOW?
We have payed part of the CD with some savings, but tot finish and publish the CD we need this 2500€ that we ask for! So, Thank you very much to all of you that are helping us!
