THE PROJECT

Beyond the grief and sorrow, the demise of a relative is an opportunity for people to get together with friends and relatives, reminisce old stories, unveil hidden secrets and, at the same time, to share the unsettling feeling that life goes on.

“5ºB ESCALERA DCHA.” is a comedy about a mother and her three daughters who are shocked by the unexpected death of their father. The story is peppered with black humor and describes the events from the moment they find out until the family meets to throw the ashes. Written and directed by Spanish actress María Adánez in her debut as director, the film features an excellent cast and crew that includes renowned Spanish actress Carmen Maura. Filming is taking place in Madrid between 19 and 22 of May.

WHO WE ARE AND WHY WE USE VERKAMI AND CROWDFUNDING

“5ºB ESCALERA DCHA.” is the first project of MeVoyContigo Films, a young Spanish film production company set up with the aim of promoting the creation of audiovisual works as a meeting point to exchange experiences among established and new artists in the Spanish film industry.

The short film industry is an ideal platform to develop creativity and learning experiences, but it also implies risks. The commercial viability of a short film often requires looking for original ways of funding, in order for the project to remain profitable and for us to be able to continue making films.

With your help, we plan to raise EUR 8,000 through this initiative in order to finance this exciting venture. The money raised will be used to cover part of post-production costs (editing, grading, sound editing, and blowup from HD to 35mm).

But it's not all about money. We aim to showcase our project and engage in a dialogue with our followers from the outset. That way you will be able to take an active role in the different events we will be organising to support and publicise the project.

SYNOPSIS

“5ºB ESCALERA DCHA.” is a story about a mother and her three daughters on the day they find out that their father has died unexpectedly. One of the daughters pays a surprise visit to her father one day and finds him dead. The three sisters and their mother all gather in a bar next to the father's house. It’s the same bar where the family used to spend time many years ago when they all lived there. Still stunned by the sad news and while they wait in the bar, they laugh, cry and look back in time. The film ends when the whole family takes the father’s ashes to the place where they thought he wanted to be buried.
