“The Power of Information” is not only a play about Julian Assange. It pretends to be a defense to the citizen´s right to information and free press. The play wants to denounce the impunity of the economic and political powers, which are acting outside of the international law, just to guarantee their privileges.
Julian Assange has been jailed for almost a decade, without having the right to go in the street, not even one day, just because he identified those who committed war crimes and they hadn´t been convicted of it. This month, in October 2021, the British court of justice will deliberate if the prosecution appeal will be accepted. It will be then decided if he finally will be extradited to United States, just because he wanted to do his job as journalist.
My intention has been to reconstruct the most crucial events, throughout the last ten years of the Assange case, by compiling interviews, books and news, and using imagination, irony and humor.
