I look back on my life and its 95% running around trying to raise money to make movies and 5% actually making them. It is no way to live. - Orson Welles.
Who is SANTILLANA?
"LA CANCIÓN DESNUDA" is a musical short film that tells the story of a young guitarist recently arrived in the big city named Santillana. The boy plays on the subway and sleeps at bus stops, holds out his hand holding the hat that is never full of coins. The young man spends his days in the dirtiest corners of the city with the worst luck characters in their lives. On one of these nights Santillana sees a strange man, with long white beards and wrinkled skin, without any concern, bathing in a pond in the heart of Madrid. It could be an angel, or a tramp. The projection of his dream, a free life. But after a while the sun comes out and you have to ask again, they get together again with the same people although who knows, it's a new day, maybe something comes up.
What is the reflection?
We have all lived the story of Santillana, we have all gone through that moment in our youth where you realize that they are not all games and that at the next stop a few problems are going to get on the bus. The young man's story is intertwined with the story of his middle-aged friend Julio, the saxophonist who suffers from a broken heart. His wife, Angela, has returned to her country of origin, where she left her family and a son she had not seen in twenty years, who is about to have a daughter. Julio and Santillana sing, laugh and drink. Although life is not all games, it seems to be the only thing left for them.
THEME AND INSPIRATION.
In this film we look for the individuality of the character more than in the general plot, we look for a close reality instead of seeing the characters from above. We are inspired by films like “A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE” or “FACES” by John Cassavetes, “MEANTIME” by Mike Leight or musical films by John Carney like “ONCE”. In terms of music, singer-songwriters from Joaquin Sabina or Antonio Vega to artists from across the ocean like Bob Dylan or George Harrison.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WILL WE DESTINATE YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO.
“LA CANCIÓN NUDA” is an independent project carried out by students but without the support of any school, we have a team of wonderful colleagues who are giving everything to achieve the goal we want.
Are:
- Guille Hernandez as Santillana
- Georgina Rey as Angela
- Javier Batuta as Julio
- Pedro Vassallo as David
- Photographed by Ignacio Divar
- Edited by Sara Alvarez
- Written and directed by Miguel Gómez Pinaderos
From the musicians, the actors to the team behind the camera, we are part of different schools but more than a project to get a note and put it aside, or a final year project to look for work in a few months, we are all in the same boat to do something special, something truly ours, in which we leave our soul, feeling and a lot of art.
Being a totally independent production the money raised will be used to address the following expenses:
- Audio material and camera.
- Rents in certain locations
- Makeup and costumes of actors / actresses
- Transport
- Powering the equipment during filming
- Art and props
- Registration in Film Festivals
If we are lucky enough to exceed our goal it will make it possible to contribute a symbolic amount to the cast of actors / actresses.
Rewards for patrons and calendar:
Our rewards for donations are varied, from receiving a copy of the script prior to the making of the film to a journal of the production stages written by the director. Most of these would be received by patrons in early January 2022. Date for which we plan to have the short film edited and ready for distribution, since we started shooting on October 24 and we have already spent several weeks of rehearsals preparing and organizing the entire project.
Any contribution, no matter how small, helps a lot to make this project a reality.
