The Mobile Circus project wants to reach the most devastated areas of Gaza and provide, through the circus, a part of the psychological and psychosocial support that children and their families need.
Gaza: a hell for children
"If there is a hell on earth, it is in the lives of children in Gaza" said the UN Secretary General, António Guterres, on 20th may.
The Gaza Strip is the world's largest prison on a small piece of land that is home fore more than two million people living under Israeli occupation, cut off from the outside world by an illegal air, sea and land blockade. Half of the nearly two million Palestinians living in Gaza are under the age of 18
Being a minor in the Gaza Strip has always been extremely difficult, even before the latest escalation of violence. Nowhere in Gaza is safe for them. For some children, this is the fourth conflict they have lived through. In less than 13 years, four conflicts have devastated the Strip, a territory under Israeli subjugation: in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2021.
The violent escalation of the conflict in May 2021 has taken many lives and destroyed families, leaving the children of Gaza in shock. A devastating effect in a place where the living conditions of the population were already very precarious due to the Israeli blockade.
According to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), during 11 days of conflict, at least 260 Palestinians, including 66 children, were killed as a result of shelling, rocket fire and shootings from the Israeli army, and more than 600 minors were injured, some of whom may suffer a long-term disability and need rehabilitation.
Israeli planes and bombs stopped and the Gaza Strip went quiet, but the 11 days of conflict in May have left children in the enclave traumatized, exposed once again to destruction and fear of dying. Children take the hardest blows from the violence in Gaza.
How can the Mobile Circus help?
Even before the escalation of violence, one in three children in Gaza required assistance for conflict-related trauma. The need for psychological and psychosocial support has increased.
Stars of Gaza Circus School has decided to contribute to alleviating their suffering by going where they are: in their schools, their homes, in refugee and displaced camps ... Mobile Circus will go where others do not reach, to support them psychologically and psychosocially through the circus.
We believe that the circus and laughter are transformative, revolutionary and necessary for all children. That is why we want to take them to all corners of Gaza.
And for that, we need a minibus!
With the Mobile Circus minibus we will be able to take the shows throughout the Gaza Strip, especially in the marginalized and destroyed border areas, to reach the children who suffer serious psychological damage from the recent armed conflict.
The Mobile Circus team will be made up of 15 Palestinian artists, and artists from other countries, from the Gaza Stars School and Pallasos en Rebeldia.

About us
Pallasos en Rebeldía
Joy and laughter can be transformative. The Pallasos en Rebeldia International Cooperation and Cultural Association was born based on that idea. It is an artistic space of international solidarity, political transformation and fraternity among peoples that expresses itself through clown and circus arts.
A network of artistic groups from different countries that supports the struggle of indigenous peoples in this globalized world, defending the end of the Zionist occupation and terror in Palestine, accompanying the Saharawi people in their return to the free Sahara and being part of the movement of solidarity with the Zapatista revolution in Mexico.
Gaza Stars Circus School
The Gaza Stars circus school was born after the brutal 2014 war in the Gaza Strip. It was created from the siege and destruction, from the heart but also from the suffering of the children of Gaza, to those who wanted to provide psychological, social and sports support.
The tragic scenes lived were transformed into motivation to help through the circus. From there, the Gaza Stars team began operating in marginalized and destroyed areas. After the success of these first steps, a school was created. Now, 30 boys and girls learn the various arts of the circus in this school: Clown, Gymnastics, Magic Games, Aerobic Acrobatics and Jongler. "The school team works to cultivate their smile and train them in different circus skills."
What will we use your contributions for?
1. First stop: minibus.
20.000 EUROS
In order to implement the Mobile Circus project, we will need 20,000 euros, which will allow us to get a minibus to move around the Gaza Strip and reach the most affected places.
2. Second stop: Prepare everything for the route
10.000 EUROS
Once this first objective is achieved, we will start decorating the Mobile Circus and buy all the necessary materials to be able to undertake the route.
3. Third stop: Pay the artists
10.000 EUROS
With everything ready to go, we will only need to get the money to pay the 15 circus artists who will carry out the shows.
4. End of Destination: Let's start! (And let's record it!)
5.000 EUROS
The Mobile Circus tour of Gaza will begin from November. During the project, which will last 6 months, we will make a documentary about the Mobile Circus, about the work of Gaza Stars and Pallasos in Rebeldia and about the harsh reality of what it is to be a child in Gaza currently constantly exposed to violence. Our ultimate goal will be to finance this audiovisual piece.
